where to start
i think it was KevanGuy who helped me (and others no doubt), though he might not remember, watch some of the 2004 playoff games while i was living in Asia by pointing a webcam at his television or some such amazing and now-primitive technique
sorry if that treads on copyright issues by the way, feel free to delete post
anyway lurked years before then, and for a calgarian born and raised and lived for 25 years who has lived overseas for a decade now, it's one of my favorite connections to calgary, to the flames, and to flames fans, and it never fails to deliver regardless of the shenanigans

I ended up meeting some really cool people at summer ball hockey from this site. But then, I also got syphilis from this site. (not from the ball hockey people.) I also got a spare pair of glasses when someone mentioned clearlycontacts was giving away a few pairs. Couldn't believe it was free.

Why wait for summer? As some wise sage once told me, if there is grass on the field, play. The same can be applied to hockey. If there is ice on the rink, we should get a game of shinny going!
(BTW, I was kidding about the syphilis.)

CP taught me that even though I was having a lot of fun teasing Puckluck, and that his reactions, although comical in-themselves, pushed me to continue teasing him more, they were wrong.
Thanks CP MODS!

Great thread idea..
Wow, where to start?
Overall hockey knowledge has increased tenfold by posting and reading here...without a doubt.
Getting breaking news before the general public knows about it...thats great. When a big story breaks, I'm always the first guy at work to know about it..gives me something to gloat about!
Being able to get my voice accross a little more via the gametakes feature. Bingo took me on as a writer and I've been doing them (albeit less frequently these days) since 2007. I love writing and I really enjoy being able to take part in that.
The Faking the Cut games were a lot of fun during the lockout...what a blast.
The off topic board for most of my city/worldly news...seriously. I find out more things that matter here than I would watching the local or national news or CNN.
The other sports forum for providing me with mulitple avenues for fantasy pools. And for a Flames board....surprisingly fluent Bluejays/MLB and NFL chatter.
CP is like my internet multiverse....honestly has everything.
Cheers CP!

Stuff like this is hard to list; the vast majority of what people get from this site is knowledge and good times. I know I spend an inordinate amount of time at work on CP.
Tangibly, the most important was the 12 or so CPer's who were so nice as to come buy/haul away my various landscaping rocks/dirt etc when I redid my backyard.
Plus the bajillion or so tickets I've been able to buy on CP. Its also been a great resource to buy random little odds and ends and unload those that you don't want. I post things on here well before kijiji because I know Im not going to get an annoying runaround/lowball like on other sites. Just don't sell microwaves unless you offer a return policy apparently
Oh, and who can forget finding my mortgage broker, realtor and lawyer all on one site!

1. Besides all the great knowledge, hockey and otherwise, I enjoy much
of the humour from guys like the Captain, Fotze and Locke etc.
2. I think I have learned to express myself more efficiently (although I
still have a long way to go) by:
a. making sure that what I say cannot be taken more than one way.
b. making sure that I don't state something as fact when it is
something that I feel, believe, think etc... without it being generally
accepted as, or scientifically proven to be, fact.
3. It gives me insight into how the younger people think, and how society
is likely to change with time.
4. It makes me realize how diverse the opinions on various matters can
be, in spite of my own strongly held position.
5. I learned that one can develop an obsession quite easily in using the
new technologies, and should learn to be disciplined, so as not to
waste too much time.
6. Although I seldom use it, I can sell or purchase stuff I need.
7. I feel connected, and very occasionally...a sense of belonging to
a group...in spite of my age.
8. Etc., etc., etc.

WTF ?!?!? What about me MF'er ... You know could have wrote " Actually met a cool American" or something of that sorts..
However CP has given me pretty much all the hockey knowledge that I have. They also always post about good food which gives me places to try when I come to town. I joined CP to help find a few tickets and found a pretty cool community of people that are willing to help complete strangers. That leads me to the biggest thing that CP has done ...
They donated money and equipment ( which they also paid to get shipped down to Oklahoma) to get my adult hockey team up and going. Most of the guys I didn't know nor had I ever talked to. It the most awesome thing I had ever seen. For the record I try to pay it forward on everyones behalf that helped me when I get a chance.
Thanks CP!

- First and foremost, this place is great for taking hockey with other knowledgable fans. Even on the bad days, it still beats talking to my friends who miss Lombardi on the team because he was hot...
- Endless hours of entertainment. The CP confessional, grinds my gears, Fuuuuu, Random thoughts, all so entertaining!
- Learned about various deals and great food
- Sold a Crosby jersey
- Saw a poster I knew before CP post a picture of himself in spandex, which can now be used for blackmail.
- And I learned the most valuable lesson of all time:

CP also made the Olympics even more special thanks to the Opening Ceremony Thread and Hot Olympians thread. I joined because of those threads, haha.
I guess overall CP has made me much smarter when it comes to everything hockey, which I'm thankful for.

Amen. The Opening Ceremony Thread was truly lightning in a bottle.....amazingly fun.
The Hot Olympians should go down as the top thread of 2010.

Thank you Hesla for the thourough eye exam.
Thank you Ken for taking my (free) fridge.
Thank you Ducay for the deal on "mini" Allen Blocks.
Thank you ? for taking my busted Dennon Amp.
And thank you to the Gen. Pop. here, as CP has proven to be the authority on confirming ANY breaking news.
...And thanks to the Mod. that Penalized me for making light of the Canuck Player (can't remember) with the ruptured testicle. A valuable lesson learned, don't immeadiately consider others posts to be "jokes".
Merry Christmas ALL at CP!!

I have met some truly incredible people as a result of my association.
Bingo, Habernac, Transplant99, CP(the poster), Iowa Flames Fan among others.
Music: Calgarypuck is my number one source for learning about good music, which is something I am passionate about.
I have learned that there are a lot of very intelligent people who are Flames fans.
I've laughed, mostly as a result of Rogue Underoos or fotze posting.
I think most of all, I have learned that there are different viewpoints from my own that can be intelligently defended and validated, be they about the Flames or political issues. Understanding that you're not always right is a big step for anyone.
