Episode 3 of TG US was the best one by far. You are able to watch it on the history channel website. Unfortunately, you cannot skip past their commercials.
I wont give any spoilers as to what happens, but it is a cheap car challenge involving moonshine.
I actually laughed through some of this episode.
New in this episode is a news segment. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't fantastic either. As far as I am concerned.. they can get rid of Big Star, Small Car. I am not sure if it's the guests or Adam that are killing this segment, but it's brutally painful.

I actually enjoy the US version. The main thing is to stop comparing it to the original series. You'll never enjoy it as much, but as a standalone car show, it's pretty good. Not sure if I'll ever like Rutledge Wood, but I'll keep watching the US one.

I wanted Leno as a Top Gear USA host for a long time now because of his car pedigree and the fact that he still can be funny and he is incredibly passionate about cars, not because of the late night drama crap with Coco. Leno is a lifeless zombie ####### on the Tonight Show but he's great on Jay Leno's Garage.

I enjoyed the Raptor portion of Episode 4 - but pretty much everything else was a complete disaster. (WTF was with the gay paintball segment!?!)
Adam Ferrara is a total tool and his complete lack of car knowledge and non-existent driving skills make him the biggest loser on the show. He actually makes Rutledge look competent.
Hey Adam, take this quarter, go downtown, and have a rat gnaw that thing off your face.

Ditto, i ended up skipping a lot of the sketched parts like when they drive around in the cars with painted windows... like at least when you script a show make it believeable...
I maintain that Clarkson is the glue that holds top gear together, without him the show is mediocre.

When Clarkson left the original original Top Gear it suffered as well under Tiff Needle but it was still watchable.
Clarkson makes and breaks the show. Watch Clarkson's non Top Gear car shows (there are plenty made, especially between 1999-2002) and it feels just like or better than Top Gear.
You might as well call Top Gear the Jeremy Clarkson hour but over the years, May and Hammond have come into their own too and are great hosts on their individual programs as well.
None of these guys on Top Gear USA should even be on television. Top Gear USA might as well be Fifth Gear USA. Top Gear USA is just a giant download and fast forward to watch about 5 minutes/45 minutes for me.
It's a shame really. Imagine what would happen if they trimmed the show's budget by ALOT and used the extra money to hire some real American entertainment or car industry personas. Imagine the show hosted by an A-list comedian or talk show host and it would be much better. Hell the British show now operates on a shoestring budget and it's still just as good.

I disagree on one point. Clarkson's videos are rather bland. I enjoy them because they are just fast cars which he reviews, but for an hour and 20 minutes it gets boring. Top Gear is all three, if any of them left it wouldn't be the same, be it James, Richards or Jeremy.

First special was released today. No spoilers, but it's the east coast US special.

I thought the first episode was quite good, really enjoyed the America segment.
Can't bloody wait until Sunday for the Middle East special.

The only problem I had with the American special was that it seem too rushed. I wish the whole episode was the special and that they hadn't jammed the rest of the show in as well. Seemed like the road trip didn't really have a good conclusion like other specials have in the past.

This seemed like a regular episode without a really fast car on the track segment. I thought it was supposed to be a special. Not complaining, I just must have missed something.
A little sick of Hammond picking the latest 911. I can't tell the difference between it and one from 15 years ago.
