Man, how can Diablo 3 take that long? It's a great series and all, but it's not like its the opus of all video games. The gameplay looks not that different 2. Am I missing something?

Well Blizzard is notoriously slow and has massive delays with every single game it comes out with. That's pretty standard. They probably won't even hit that Q4 deadline anyways.

Diablo in 2012? The world really is coming to an end.

Actually Q4 2011 is pretty good by their standards.

The demon hunter class reveal at Blizzcon was a little meh, in person. During panel discussions, it sounds like they've still got a lot of stuff they want to fiddle with. That being said, the line-ups to access the build they had available were quite long . . .
. . . you know them, gotta polish it til "it's done."

Why would they release two expansion packs at the same time. Heart of the Swarm is coming out at the same time.

I'd guess that Heart of the Swarm is the Zerg campaign plus the same multiplayer as Wings of Liberty, SC2 Phoenix is an expansion for multiplayer.

I'm actually surprised that they have the release date that early. My guess is July 2012 at the earliest for when its actually released.

Yeah, I guess they are a company that goes quality over quantity. That being said, I think they nerd it up a bit too much, worrying about super specific miniscule details that don't make a lick of difference. I'm still wistful of the times my necromancer could lead my undead army through a level and all I'd have to use is Corpse Explosion and Mana regenration. Ahh, god times. Now who's nerding it up!

It's those super specific minuscule details that make Blizzard the best game developer out there. That's the reason their games stay relevant more than 10 years after coming out, where all of the copycat games are lying abandoned by the roadside.

Fair enough, but 14 years between games? A little extreme, don't you think?

StarCraft and Diablo 2 still have a decent userbase, so don't fix what isn't broken.
Also, don't fall into Activision's "run this #### into the ground" mode and release games as fast as humanly possible. How many Guitar Hero and Call of Duty games have come out in the last 3 years? I'm not sure there are many that can accurately tell you without consulting Wikipedia.

Really? To be honest, that surprises me. That being said, I never played online with people, so I'm not sure how good a game it was in multiplayer (Diablo 2). I remember I was foolish and got the hack that allowed you to load in any armor/weapon your little heart desired. After that there was absolutely no point in playing again. I learned a valuable lesson about ruining games.

if you want a Diablo fix and don't want to wait for D3, try Titan Quest. you can get the gold edition on Steam right now for $5.00, which includes the game and expansion pack. it's the best Diablo clone ever made IMO, and the Greek mythology setting is fantastic

I think Diablo 2 is a boring game in single player. I've tried to slog through it on my own but it's such a boring grind without friends to play with.

It's Blizzard owned by Activision? They love their money. Look at Call of Duty, lots of games and they now charge $15 for a map pack that used to cost 10... IMO Activision sucks.

Bobby Kotick has got to be the biggest gamer hating CEO on the planet. Everything he introduces penny and dimes us to death. Sadly most of us keep on buying.
