Now here's the kicker. A cheque was included for $3,775.00 and if it's fake, it's a damn good fake. All the security features look legit and it is indeed printed on CIBC cheque paper.
The company its from is:

Aldergrove, BC V4W 2T8
The bank is stated as:

The Toronto based company uses a CIBC branch in BC? They couldn't find one on Yonge street?

If you tried to deposit it, you'd get dinged by the bank.

What would be the harm in trying to deposit this cheque? Is there a way for scammers to access your bank info if you do?

If you know it's fake then you're committing fraud as well.

these scams never cease to amaze me - it makes me wonder how many "hits" they get out of a 100 e-mails.
Also the amount of little things wrong with the letter/e-mail - the area code for TO being wrong, spelling and grammar errors etc - makes me wonder if they'd have more success if they invested a bit more time in the hook......
anwyas, forget about the lottery my good friend, i have a relative who is the deposed king of nijeriah whose banks accounts have been frozen pending the submission of a cheque for $3,287.58.........

This was actually real physical mail, sent via registered mail with no return address on the envelope.
