Looks like this 17 year piece of discrimination has been brought to an end.

Considering the Spartans were probably the greatest military society, and they had no problems with mutual pole-smoking, this piece of legislation is probably long overdue.

Wasn't that supported to bring commendatory amongst the troops? Plus it wasn't like Spartan A was horny and so was Spartan B and they went to town. They were not allowed to just have as much sex as possible. They were suppose to save the seed for a woman and grow the "perfect" spartan child.

DADT was a joke, I could care less if the dude or woman next to me or not. They would have to follow the same exact rules as the rest of the soldiers. No exemptions what so ever for them being "gay".

Besides I would be willing that the majority of homosexuals that are in our military are female. It's like a smorgasbord of other gay women.

From Meet the Spartans

Messenger: [Leonidas has kissed the Persian's messenger on the mouth] What the hell was that?
Leonidas: What?
Messenger: You just kissed me!
Leonidas: That is how men great each other in Sparta: high-fives for the women
[high-fives Margo]
Leonidas: and open-mouthed tongue kisses for the men!

Leonidas: Adjust your sword boy, it's digging into my back.
Sonio: But I'm not wearing my sword.
Leonidas: [pause] Carry on then.

This makes me sad...

First, as a Marine, I could give a flying fata if you like to felch donkeys, if you are willing to die next to me, you can be a part of my Marine Corps. I'm ashamed that the Commandant of the Marine Corps would use war casualties as political pawns. I'll bet those Marines blown apart in battle didn't care if the corpsman was gay.

Second, John McCain was possibly one V.P. candidate away from being President and vetoing this. He has fallen so far from the 1996/2000 campaign John McCain.

That's one reason why gays shouldn't be allowed into the army. Because if we're in battle, is he going to be looking at the enemy, or is he going to be looking at me and going "Ooh. He looks tasty in his uniform". And I'm not homophobic, all right? Come round, look at my CDs. You'll see Queen, George Michael, Pet Shop Boys. They're all bummers.

I don't care if you're gay or strait, when those bullets are flying by your head things aren't going in the butt, it's coming out and no one is thinking otherwise.

Sexuality won't matter in battle

By Nathan Cox

Quote:
I am an active-duty U.S. Marine Corps infantry officer. I have deployed twice to Iraq and once to Afghanistan and have commanded infantry Marines in combat.
Quote:
In the recent Defense Department survey, 58 percent of combat arms Marines said they felt allowing homosexuals to serve openly would
negatively affect their unit, but 84 percent of combat arms Marines
who had served with a homosexual said that there would be no effect or
that the effect would be positive. It seems obvious that if allowing
homosexuals to serve openly degraded performance, rather than improved
it, a majority of Marines who had served with homosexuals would oppose
repeal. Yet this is not the case, and homosexuals serve openly in the
militaries of Britain, Canada, Australia, Israel and others with no
ill effect. This suggests that much of the opposition toward repeal
within the Marine Corps is based on the politics of individual Marines
and not any measurable military effect.
Quote:
Repeal will of course have many effects. Gay and lesbian Marines who are now barred from discussing their identities honestly with their
superiors, peers and subordinates would be able to do their jobs free
from the nagging knowledge that they are being less than honest with
their brothers and sisters in arms. It is difficult to see how this
could do anything but improve their job performance. Gay and lesbian
Marines have long fought and died for a country that refuses to
acknowledge their existence. Some are certainly among the Marines who
have passed through Bethesda Naval Hospital and rest in Arlington.

I believe the reluctance many Marines feel about repeal is based on
the false stereotype, borne out of ignorance, that homosexuals don't
do things like pull other Marines from burning vehicles. The truth is,
they do it all the time. We simply don't know it because they can't
tell us.

I never cared if someone was gay or not, as long as they knew their job, could shoot somewhat straight and wouldn't get me killed by doing something moronic, they could collect dolls, and have a fish fetish for all I care.

I judge people based on their actions, not their orientation.

McCain is such an incredible ######bag. first he said that he would support a repeal of DADT if the leaders of all the military branches supported the idea. when they did, then he said he would support it only after an in-depth study was done to determine how it would affect combat readiness. then when that was finished he said that it was the subordinates, not the leaders, who had to come out in support because they were the ones directly effected. and now when a vast majority of servicemen and women who have served with a gay/lesbian comrade come out in support of the bill, he still refuses to listen and instead spouts the same ignorant rhetoric

he knows his stance is unpopular, otherwise he would have stated from the start that he flat out opposes gays in the military. after his complete flip-flop during the last election, it's quite apparent that McCain is the epitome of slimeball politician. he will say whatever it takes to win a vote, only showing his true beliefs when he's pressed into a corner with no other choice
