Franks has a buffalo wing sauce that seems quite close to me, when mixed with some butter.

I'm not sure how much, but vinegar is a key ingredient to hot wing sauce.

Never heard about adding butter before, but the restaurants I've worked at just use Franks and shake it around in a bowl before serving.

I think the butter is used to help the sauce stick to the wings

My personal recipe is a killer hot wing sauce that is a blend of sweet peppers, jalapenos, tobasco and Louisiana hot sauces. The wings are rubbed with cayenne and paprika before being deep fried and then tossed in the sauce. You can also serve the sauce on the side for those who don't like the heat. If you have it available, substitute Cholula for the Louisiana hot sauce. Better flavor but still brings the heat.

Alton Brown has an excellent Good Eats episode on preparing home made hot wings. If anyone wants a copy, let me know and I'll upload somewhere where it can be grabbed from.

butter, hotsauce, vinegar is the simple method. otherwise the alton link or something should do. depends on your effort level and what you prefer

Why don't they put the friggin butter and vinegar in the sauce they sell then? I doubt most restaurants put in the extra effort to make their own sauce. I'm thinking it comes from a tub, why can't they sell this at Sobey's? It's like some secret underground society has access to the good stuff and you can only get it on wings at pubs.

Yes but you can ask for them NAKED!
The rest of the food they have is horrible and sub par. It's wings however are top notch.

Vinegar is the number 2 ingredient in regular Frank's, and the #1 ingredient in the buffalo wing flavour. Also, the buffalo wing flavour contains canola oil to improve adhesion the same as butter would (and it contains butter flavour to boot)

2 cups hot sauce (franks or louisiana, etc.) 1/2 cup butter, cayenne and tobasco to taste - melt all these.
Place wings in oven 400 degree oven for 50-60 minutes (somewhat healthier), or deep fry them for about 12 minutes.
Coat wings in sauce.
Place under broiler for a few minutes to crisp them up.
Sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
