I just finished writing 8am on the 16th then 8am and 330pm on the 17th.
It is brutal.
I honestly think all 8am exams should have an automatic 5% bonus added to them.

Having that timeframe on the last day of fall exams is the worst. It's like the university has been abandoned.

It's called having some responsibility.
I had three 8 am exams this year, all on consecutive days, and I live in the deep SW. You get yourself on a schedule, and make sure to wake up early to leave to make sure you're on time while still getting enough sleep.
I also had 8 am classes 4 out of 5 days during the week this term too.

What's your point? It's still wretched.

I had an 8am class this semester (Tues and Thur), I vowed never to do that again as I have to wake up at 6:45 am at the latest. Then came the classes for my next semester (Jan-April) and I had to take another 8am class on Mon and Wed. Dammit to hell!

I have a 7-10pm exam on Tuesday night and an 8am exam on Wedensday morning. Meanwhile everyone's facebook statuses are simultaniously turning to "yay finished exams" or "freedom!!!" FML.
Oh well at least the 8am exam is just geophysics.

Come on, your entire attitude in this thread is so self-congratulatory it's ridiculous.
Instead of saying "you know what I found helped me was....." you say "It's called having some responsibility". Your implication is that others don't but you do and thus come across as a pompous jackass.
We all get it, you are (or think you are) an academic god, congratulations. I did 7 years of University and took ~2 8 a.m. classes because I hated getting up that early. Some people just aren't morning people.
I hardly doubt his comment about 8 a.m. exams getting an extra 5% was entirely serious.

I am at work between 7 and 7:30 every morning, so I really have no problems waking up early and getting to an exam but I am the kind of person that wants to study for a while before the exam and then take a 30-60 min break before the exam starts to relax and maybe have the chance to review a couple things that might come to mind.
No way that is happening with an 8am exam. Add an exam that ends at 10pm the day before and it is literally like having back to back exams, but with a 10 hour window where you really can't study.

That's the oldest excuse in the book, "I guess I'm just not a morning person".
Frankly I'm tired of hearing the whining when people don't even bother to try to change something to make it better. There are countless who do it; procrastinate studying, and stay on a 2am - 12pm sleep schedule and wonder why they're boned for the 8am exam, then I get to hear them moan about it for weeks afterwards. Well guess what, some of us actually do something about our problems and get rewarded for it.
Seriously, man up people.

Sounds like more of a pet peeve for you than anything else.
There just isn't much pleasurable about writing an early morning exam, it's as simple as that.
With most students, sleeping schedules get jumbled up due to study habits, what's the big deal? It happens, it's ~4 years of your life. Plenty of time to get used to the 8-4 schedule during your working years.

I don't know, I used to love early morning exams. It would be over with early in the day and there was no time to do that worthless last minute studying that you try to do if the exam is later in the day. I agree that late night followed by early morning sucks.

Best exams are at 3:30, you have had lunch, you get the morning to get a good night sleep, and you can study for a bit before. It's the best time.
I have an 8am on tuesday that is going to blow.
Busy writing a paper now though, 10 pages on a book that no one gets or understands... yay!

Just because someone bitches about an 8 a.m. exam doesn't mean they didn't "man up" and write it and do well, they just don't like it. I don't see why you think you're so superior to everyone else because they prefer not to write exams at 8 a.m.

FML i would kill myself.
Plus its been proven that an extra hour of sleep often is better for students than an extra hour of studying. One time last year i had back to back 8am exams, the first day i was really good and awake in the morning, the second day about 1/2 way through the exam i stopped caring and ended up not doing as good as i could have. I lost focus and my brain was so tired.
