Midnapore Mall.

I don't disagree. I do, however, think that Calgary's downtown is continually improving. More people live there, we have a surprising amount of good restaurants, shopping is improving, etc.
I don't think that it will ever rival the vibrancy of Kensington, 17th Avenue, or Mission for the simple fact that more people live in those areas. But as Bigtime mentioned, it isn't uncommon for the CBD to be a bit sparse after hours in comparison.

And yet we have one of the largest downtown core areas with one of the highest density of businesses for a city of this size in the world, too. The reason the Downtown isn't populated is because it's too popular, and is too busy. Take a place like Winnipeg. Only reason people live there is because no one wants to work there, and the rent is super cheap.

...and likely the lowest residential density. The place is a ghost town outside of Monday-Friday 7-5. No one lives there.

Pretty much any mall in the NE sucks.
Other than CrossIron mills, but that's more north than NE. Nothing like going to a mall and feeling like you're in a different country.

My favorite mall is Silk Street in Beijing.
Other than that, it's whatever I can find on the Safeway gift card wall, or wherever someone else goes to buy my stuff. When I go to the mall, it's straight to NY fries, and out the nearest entrance.

Boo-urns. It's my turn to buy the gifts this year (me and my sis take turns) and I have to buy a gc for smugglers and two for lululemon, neither of which were on the Safeway gift card wall. Why couldn't they be for the keg and itunes dammit?
