I'll put in a vote for Fitter First too. They're down on Ogden Road by the new Crossroads Market. They offer rollers in a variety of densities - softer if you're a beginner, harder if you've already developed some good flexibility. They'll let you try out most of their stuff in the showroom.
Pool noodle = no good. The hole in the middle makes it squishy, so you won't get good pressure and stretch on your back or illiotibial band. If you're really in a pinch try a really tighly rolled towel instead.
