Default Are Grant and Punk still paying off the refs ???

St.Louis leads the league with 57 PP chances. They have converted on these 13 times. This is 12 more chances on the PP than the Next closest teams (MTL and CAR).
Buffalo now leads the league 87 PP chances... they have converted 20 of these for a very impressive 24% PP. Mike Green has 13 of his 20 Points on the PP and therefore is basically useless in Even Strength. St. Louis is second with 83 PP chances (so only 26 chances in the last 12 games)... So obviously the Punk is no longer paying enough.

Conversely, Columbus only has had 17 chances in the PP. 8 of which have resulted in goals. Do not get into penalty trouble vs. Columbus. Dave needs to give the refs some something-something. The Oilers now have had the fewest chances in the league (@38). Columbus has had 32 chances in the last 13 games and have only 3 more PPG to show for it (11 total) for a 9% PP percentage. Wow... quite the drop.

Team of lady byng candidates, or Commissioner bias?

The Minnesota Wild have only had 12 penalties called against them all year (surrendering only 3 PP goals). The next closest team is Dallas with 19 penalties. Minnesota still has the lowest amount of PPs against in the league with 28. I am starting to lean towards commishioner bias.

Conversely, the Chicago Blackhawks have had 55 penalties called against them and have surrendered 16 goals. Turn up the physical sliders versus the Hawks to goad them into penalties. The Blackhawks have had to kill off 96 Penalites !!

Odds and Ends

-Nashville has surrendered 12 goals on only 31 PPs for a PK % of 61%. Since this post, Nashville has only allowed 4 goals on 33 attempts... this is 88% on the PK. This is a huge improvement, and likely one of the reasons they are currently in a playoff spot.

-Carolina and Washington have the 2nd and 3rd most PIMs in the league, but are middle of the pack for PPs against (37 and 35). This stems from one game between the two where the teams had 5 fights. Carolina still fights alot !!! They lead the league with 17.88 PIMS/game, but are 7th in PPs against.

- Boston leads the league with 3 SHGs Boston still leads the league with 6 SHGs

this is true. Green is useless at evens and plays on my bottom pairing, however he remains a valuable player for us as he is carrying our good PP
