I love this series. Truthfully I always find the vanilla versions a bit dull, but this game has one of the best modding communities out there in my opinion...a ton of things to help spice up the game. Oblivion and morrowind are still 2 of my favorite games.
Primarily I meant that the world was a little tame, like a royal garden or something. A little boring.
But it's true that there were also systemic problems that could only be solved by modding. Like the way the enemies leveled with the character - I think Oblivion is much easier to beat with a low level character than a strong character, for example, and you shouldn't have to spend 10 minutes trying to kill a goblin when you're the mightiest sword on the continent. Also the character's leveling system is terrible, because it forces you to avoid using your primary skills since you don't want to level too fast.
Bethesda took a couple of steps in the right direction with Fallout3, but I hope they go further and do what Obsidian did with New Vegas.
Morrowind had its balancing problems too, but it was darker, more alien, much stranger, and more open-ended, and the wilderness actually felt wild. And you could levitate and do teleport magic - for some reason no one flies in Oblivion. Just felt a little flat after the more mystical Morrowind.
Morrowind was certainly the best Rpg ever on pc. Giant mushrooms for trees ftw !

Wow baby that looks good. I am hoping for good things. It has been 4 years since Oblivion and with another year to go, development could have been for 5 years (although probably not). I hope the graphics are updated and awesome and I feel they will be.
Bathesda may release their games with a ton of glitches, but their games are among the biggest for content so I am super stoked.
I spent WAYYYY too many hours on Oblivion. I never actually finished the game because it was sooo long and closing the damn gates got so tedios and annoying.
This looks like its going to be sweet, ive been waiting for another one of these for a while.
Well we're certainly a long way from the 'Ultima Quest of the Avatar' type production budgets.
Sounds like Max Von Sydow doing the narration in the teaser. Cool.
Not up on my lore but Skyrim is the Nord world is it? So maybe some degree of a Viking/Northern/Winter aesthetic going on then? Will be looking forward to this.
Diablo 3, Mass Effect 3 and Elder Scrolls 5 are going to really enhance my social life next year. Yeah.

Same with me, the hour log was embarrassing to see how many days of my life I wasted playing the game... lol. Cant wait for this to come out!

Oh my god I forgot about Diablo 3. 2011 is easily the best in gaming history in quite a while. Diablo 3 (possibly), ME3, ES5, Uncharted 3, Resistance 3, Forza 4, Duke Nukem Forever.
