Sanford Haunts GM Cheese
After being outshot 13-5 in the 1st Period by the Thrasher's,Sanford answered the bell and held the CPHL Leading Thrasher's to no goals,Naslund put the Pred's ahead midway through the 1st when Federov sent Naslund on a break away from the blueline in and Snazzy Nassy went top shelf where Mama keeps the Peanut Butter on Lalime. The only flaw to this game for the Pred's was early in the 2nd period was a scramble in front of the net with Modin banking it in off a Pred defender,Sanford stood tall for rest of the Game,Kariya put the Pred's ahead to stay, with Hinote sealing the deal 12:11 into the 3rd.
Other Pred Notes
- Modry is expected to be in Preds lineup tommorow night in Atlanta, hopefully he will produce quicker than Berard did with his short tenure
- Sanford will get the call for Nashville tommorow night,I'm sure this has the Atlanta GM thrashing in his sleep tonight.
Game Stars 1 - Curtis Sanford (PRE)
2 - Dan Hinote (PRE)
3 - Markuss Naslund (PRE)

Bryzgalov Stops 23 in Tie
After being shopped around the past couple weeks, Ilja Bryzgalov proved he had it in him to be the starter for the Flyers while Marc Denis is injured. "Sure it was just one game, but we expected to get hammered with Ilj in net." Said GM Kevin Jarvis. "If he can keep it up and maybe even sneak out a win or two while Marc is hurt, then maybe we'll retire his spot on the trading block."
The Flyers were led by the newly formed first line of Arkipov,Stefan and Fehr, who had a combined 6 points. Up next for the Flyers are the Panthers, where Panthers GM MJK has promised a hat trick from winger Jeff O'Neill. The Flyers say the Panthers should put there money where there mouth is on that one

O'Neill Scores Every Goal in Panthers Win!
The Florida Panthers continue to have trouble scoring goals but their team defence is solid. Nabakov and company were great as the Panthers managed a 2-1 win over the St. Louis Blues.
After hearing his name in the papers...jeff O'Neill decided to step it and and scored twice in the win. He took the Panthers on his shoulders Sunday night and led them to victory.
"I don't want to go anywhere" said O Neill. "I want to be a Panther and I plan on staying".
O Neill is also expected to have a HUGE game tomorrow night against the Flyers.

Leafs lose 4th in a row to division opponent.
Up until the American holiday the Leafs had been playing well and getting some wins. The team looked much improved from the start of the season. Now after 4 division games and a long weekend the Leafs have crashed back down to earth. After earning only 1 point in 3 games with Buffalo (an OT loss), the Leafs continued their poor play by losing 4-2 to the Bruins.
The positives: Cechmanek's play wasn't inconsistent, as he got the night off. Henrik Lundqvist played well in his 2nd start of the year, but it wasn't enough.
The negatives: Leafs suck of late. Injuries to the defense have upset the chemistry that was starting to develop. Word is Andrei Zyuzin may return soon which will be a big help.

HOLMSTROM ZAPS THE SHARKS
Just days after requesting a trade Tomas Holmstrom lit up the sharks for 2 goals leading the struggling Bolts to their first win in four games.
Droopy had words of praise for his disgruntled left winger.
"Tomas is a pro. He could pull the chute and wait for a trade but thats not his style. He works hard and tonite his hard work paid off."
Team Captain Curtis Brown also chipped in with a 2 point effort with a goal and an assist.

LATE CHARGE GIVES FLYERS POINT

Pavel Brendl (left) battles Philadelphia's Kris Beech along the boards in
Sunday afternoon's tilt between the Shore Division rivals.
UNIONDALE, NY - A pair of late goals from Eric Fehr and Patrik Stefan evened the score at three apiece to force overtime which solved nothing.
After a second period where the Islanders and Flyers traded goals, the Islanders opened the flood gates in the third, scoring a pair of goals in three minutes to take what appeared to be a commanding 3-1 lead with just under 12 minutes to play in the game.
An elbowing penalty courtesy Janne Laukkanen however would send the Philadelphia powerplay on to the ice leading to Eric Fehr's 9th goal of the season, bringing the Flyers within one.
Minutes later, young Patrik Stefan would fire home a rebound past a sprawled Jocelyn Thibault, striking fear into the home team as they watched their two-goal lead evaporate before their eyes.
The remainder of the third period would see a motivated Philadelphia team pressure the Islanders looking for the winning goal, but thanks to some key saves from Thibault and some help from the left post of the Islander cage, the game stayed tied at the end of regulation sending both clubs to an extra frame.
Overtime turned out to be an uneventful affair as neither team registered a shot on net giving the Islanders their second straight tie game in as many nights.
The Flyers swept the three star selections with Stefan, Fehr, and Arkhipov garnering the awards at the game's conclusion.
The Islanders' next game is tomorrow evening when Jarome Iginla and the Calgary Flames visit Long Island.
Game Notes - Sunday afternoon's tie was the Islanders' league-leading eighth of the season... Pavel Brendl, who had a hot-hand over the past few weeks has been benched several times over the last two games... The Islanders powerplay was lethal on Sunday scoring twice on three opportunities.

HAWKS LOSE TO DESERT DOGS
The Hawks battled back to a 3-3 tie with the Dogs, only to have the promising OT period snatched away when Daniel Briere scored shortly after Niko Kapenen had tied the game.
Also scoring for the Hawks in tonights matchup was Shane Hnidy with his first of the season. Hnidy was a happy man, not only with the goal, but with ice time! We promise not to get too excited over his scoring a goal if he promised not to expect much in ice time
The 3rd Hawks goal was scored by Alexei Ponikavorski, his 10th of the season.

IRBE CAUSES AN OIL SPILL!

JETS 5 OILERS 4
Jets Record:
13-12(1)-3=30 pts—9th in the conference. 1 Point from a playoff spot.
Jet Goals:
YOUNG 13 (RECCHI, CARNEY)
MAYERS 2 (BRUNETTE, BARNES)
YOUNG 14 (CAJANEK, RECCHI)
BONK 9 (ROENICK, BRUNETTE)
BONK 10 (BRUNETTE, YOUNG) (PP)
Positives:
For a 2nd straight night Archie Irbe was pressed into starting duty with DiPietro still fatigued and he filled in by making 20 saves. The Jets offence scored 5 goals against a good Oiler team albeit the backup for the Oilers did start but none the less a win is win.
Negatives:
The penalty killing needs to be better, only killing off half of the four Oil power plays tonight. DiPietro is still not ready to play and Irbe will start his 3rd game in a row.
Player of the Game:
Defense man Keith Carney. Keith had just one assist but logged a team high 28 minutes of ice time. He finished +1 on the night, and was a rock. The Jets dressed just 5 defense men tonight.
Up Next:
Day 52 against the Knuckleheads!

Senators Tie the Devils.
Turco gets a night off and Bierk comes in to get the Tie.
It was not an easy point as the Senators came back from being down 3 to get the Tie 4-4. Big night on the PK as we score 3 PP goals.
This was the 9th game in a row that the Senators have gotten alteast a point in a game. Next up a game vs the Leafs.

CHICKEN SENS TIE DEVILS
Marty Turco's gear was ready to go. But goalie chickens out of game.
Just prior to todays tilt between the Senators and the Devils it was made public that Devils GM Sylvanfan had just been awarded $50,000 by the CPHL. Although the league officially claimed it was for a game story that the Devils GM published, it's rumored that this was a compensation package for the hard times the Devils GM suffered during last weeks GM meetings in South Florida when Panthers GM MJK booked the Devils GM in some shady joint in Little Havana which ultimately put the Devils GM in grave danger. Although details are sketchy it's largely speculated the Devils GM Sylvanfan had to catch running 9's on the turn and the river to nail quads and walk away from a poker game with his life. It's also rumored that the Devils GM had to use weapons on a couple of occasions to collect his money from some cheating Russians, and to make up for his rental Chevette breaking down in the wrong neighbourhood in Miami. But thats all moot as once Sylvanfan was informed he had the money the first thing he did was put a bounty on the head of Marty Turco. It's well known that Sylvanfan does not like Marty Turco, and would love to see his career ended sooner than later. So it shouldn't come as a surprise that he would offer up $50,000 to any player who knocked Turco out of the game, nor should it be a surprise that he would offer up $50,000 out of his own pocket should the injury keep Turco out of action for a period of time longer than 4 weeks.
Hearing this the Sens CHICKEN GM Radically Red decided to protect his prized asset and start Zac Bierk against the Devils. In fact the Sens GM called in the Canadian National guard to protect the Sens prized goalie until it was known that the Devils had left the country. It was also a move that will be billed to the Canadian tax payers as the Liberal governnment attempted to buy the vote of the 19040 Sens fans attending todays game.
The Devils forced to play legit hockey instead of the Federal League style goonery that Sylvanfan prefers to play surprised and actually skated out to a 4-1 advantage. Knowing that his team was in trouble and that they needed an edge Sens CHICKEN GM Radically Red faked a health problem by collapsing on the Sens bench. Knowing that medical personel would over react and cause a long delay in the game it would give his team the edge. Seeing as Canada thinks it's a progressive country and has banned smoking indoors citing bogus crap like their public health care system, the CHICKEN GM knew that Devils chain smoking goalie Jani Hurme would become un-nerved if forced to sit still for 20 minutes without a cigarette. Sylvanfan tried to get him off the ice, and to an area where he could sneak a quick drag, but Sens officials just kept insisting the matter would only be another minute until they say Hurme physically shaking. At this point Sens CHICKEN GM Red got up gave the crowd a thumbs up and went back behind the bench. With Hurme shaking like a textbook case of a Parkinson's disease victim the Sens had no trouble scoring three goals to tie the game up in the last 15:42 of the game. The Devils did manage to get Hurme out for a smoke between the end of regulation and OT so that he wouldn't surrender an extra point to the Sens.
Michael Nylander with a pair, Fernando Pisani, and Niklas Sundstrom tallied goals for the Devils. Hurme battled his nerves to make 36 saves in the game including three in OT when he looked very calm. Kerry Fraser again looked to favor the opposition in a game against the Devils as he gave the Sens several phantom powerplays, and totallly played along with CHICKEN GM Radically Reds acting performance. More rumors persist that the bad blood between Sylvanfan and Fraser stems from Syl's days as an agent where he considered purchasing a large parcel of land in the Sarnia area with Fraser acting as the realtor. But once Syl caught wind that GM was going to lay off all it's staff in Canada he backed out of the deal, and bought land in Sylvan Lake instead. Apparently scorned about the missed commission Fraser is making it his personal vendetta to make life miserable for the Devils.

LMAO.. Classic.
What ever it takes to get the team going we will do...
oh and just to you know we actually took that 20 minutes to go back to the Dressing room where Turco the GM and some other Senators players spent the time going over the trade the brought Turco to Ottawa in the first place. We all howled at the deal. Kerry Fraser even got in on the action. Turco let as all know how releaved he was to get away from his former GM.
He let it be known he had enjoyed his time as a Panther up until his GM of the time left the team. Turco was not happy with said unnamed Gm who does not seem to like toepicks........ He could never forgive said Gm for leaving the team and allowing the new GM Slyvfann come in.
Turco was quoted as saying "The guy is certifiable.. he hung around with the most unsavroy of people.. always betting against his team and would show up some days in a dress. you know just to keep it different. and for some strange reason he kept going on about wanting to wear some guy named Cheese' s swim suit. Not sure what thats about.".
Course the reason Turco did not play was a simple matter of scheduling.. Having played the night before and having another game tonight vs the Leafs followed by a game vs the Thrashers it was decided that Turco should get a rest. with *ahem* more important opponents coming up this was the most logical game to rest him.....

Flames 3 Kings 1
Flames keep up the good work with a win over the LA Kings. Kings netminder Prusek was stellar in goal with the Flames peppering the back up with 31 shots.
Flames goaltender Kiprusoff seems to be having some difficulty with the current pace as once again Kipper complained of being tired after the game. Flames House Doctor Iletya Bendover tells team officials that Miikka is suffering from dehydration and fatigue. Coach Sutter advises that Kippers waterbottle will now be filled with Gatorade instead of the usual vodka and water. Hopefully a couple days rest and a few "meetings" should clear the problem up.
Recently acquired Rob Dimaio has been on fire for the Flames lately poppin in another goal bringing his total since being acquired to 6pts.
Iggy pops another goal to maintain his lead in pts in the CPHL and JP Vigier also scores with only 8 minutes of ice time.
Goalie Statistics
