Thumbs up Carriage House Inn NYE Masquerade

http://www.masqueradenye.com/

Anyone been before? Is it fun? Age groups? Lots of young people or is this more of a middle aged event?

My biggest concern is getting home when it is done because getting a cab on NYE is usually impossible.

How far is the Carriage House Inn from the train? Pretty sure CT is 24hrs on NYE so I could take the train most of the way home if there are no cabs.

When I think of the Carriage House Inn, I think of their restaurant. The few times I have been in it I have been the youngest person there by about 45 years!

Could this be different?

That is exactly why I'm asking. I hope it is a younger crowd but I won't be happy if everyone is 50+.

The Carriage House is about halfway between the Southland and Heritage C-Train stations (Heritage is probably slightly closer). Either way, it's probably a good 15-20 minute walk (maybe more if you're tipsy).

Book a hotel room for the night then you won't have to worry about finding a cab or taking transit.

Every time I hear Carriage House, I think of Live Wire. When I think of Live Wire, I have a vague memory of being really drunk and playing baseball with my pool cue and high ball glasses. This was during one of the Blue Jays World Series. I kind of got caught up in the moment. The funny part was returning my glass embedded pool cue for my DL.

Shortly after this time in my life, I decided to quit drinking rum and switch to beer.

In my opinion, the words "Carriage House" and "young people" do not go together at all.

Any reason why you have this event picked out?

Actually inside the carriage house wasn't too bad for the wedding I was at a year ago or so for young people. Outside looks a little old though.

Just looking for something fun to do on NYE and a Masquerade party sounded kinda cool.

Maybe I'll just call and ask what the crowd is normally like.

If anyone has any better NYE options fire away.

My girlfriend went to this last year.

- During the dinner, it seems like it's about 70/30 in favour of an older crowd, but still quite a few young people.
- After dinner, people disperse into a few different rooms. Live music, lounge, club (dj music) area.
- Once that happens, the lounge and DJ areas are mostly a younger crowd and you won't feel out of place at all.
- The dinner was great, music was great, and she had a really good time in general. She went with a group of 5 or 6 friends and they got rooms at the Inn so were not worried about transportation.
- At midnight they pop bottles of champagne and the older people take off shortly after.

Any other more specific questions, I can relay them to her.

She is 21 FYI.

Go up to the masquerade party in Edmonton where they have Deadmau5 playing; that is going to be crazy. I think it's the same group putting it on too.

Speaking of old crowds, last year my friends and I went to the Beatniq on NYE where a Frank Sinatra impersonator was performing. We were the youngest by about 30 years, but we still had a blast. I danced with a woman who I guess to be about 80 years old. Good times.

Peanut's Pub @ The Carriage House. One of the best steak sandwiches out there, and inexpensive to boot!

I went to this last year. It was fun. I'm 25, wife's 23, friends are all in that range.

I thought it was fun overall. The dinner was pretty full... and they messed up our table reservations... hahah but the food was good and we had a blast. We all had rooms on the same floor too so we had a few drinks in the rooms (because we are cheap) and then went down and partied.

Good times! Here are some pics:

That's going to be an awesome show - I love Deadmau5 live.

Hopefully he doesn't pass out on stage like he did a few months back, scary stuff.
