Serious question here...why in the wide world of college sports would Stoops leave OK?? He isnt an alum or anything though i know he worked under Spurrier at one point.
That team is set up to be a force next year and likely be top 5 from the get go should they win the Fiesta bowl (should be a slam dunk but Ok has choked in the BCS bowls before), setting them up for a good NC run.

Yeah, it's certainly not minor though, and Iowa has had some issues over the last few years. Personally I think that 90% of these incidents are blown way out proportion, a lot of these things are just kids acting like kids. No coach can completely prevent that. Operating a drug house isn't of that type, but things like public intoxication and simple assault are standard incidents on a saturday in most college towns.

That's the reason I thought he was talking about Mike Stoops as I couldn't imagine why Bob would leave OK. Perhaps he wants out of the depleted Big 12? Some connection to Florida that isn't obvious? I'm at a loss.

yeah the Public Intox is mostly what happened under Ferentz. The area that UofI is in the middle of meth country. Lots of Meth houses all over the place.

He was know to express interest in UF before and also turned us down when Zook was fired. But last year wasn't pretty for him and the sooners. I don't think we get him and don't get me wrong I wouldn't mind him as the HC but I don't think it would fit right now.

reports are Mullen was offered the job. Apparently someone close to Mullen is saying he is packing his bags.
Good hire if true.

I wish I could find the article, but Texas is about to make a killing off their sports network. Espn is going to be in charge of it and its rumored to be worth in the range of $15 million a year. Just for comparison sakes Big 10 network contract is 3 years $70 million so roughly $23 million a year split amongst all 12 teams. UT a year ago thought they were going to get 3-4 mil a year. I guess they were smart staying in the Big 12. Is UT going to become as a divisive as Notre Dame because of this?

I've heard this also. Not gonna happen. Florida needs someone soon and no way does Chip take another position with his team in the NC game. Plus there's only a handful of guys (Saban, Brown, Ferentz, Miles, Tressel, Stoops) who make more then him now that he signed that 6 year extension. I'm more worried a few years down the road if he decides to take a shot at the NFL.

Let me say that I don't think so either. But to honestly believe down in your heart that Florida isn't a better spot than Oregon is laughable.
Florida can afford him
He wouldn't have to travel far for recruits
warm weather
But I don't think that he's coming to Florida either. I wouldn't mind him but I don't think he is coming.

Oh yeah Florida>Oregon in everything except facilities and records this season. I just can't see a guy whose the 7th highest paid coach in college football, coaching a team who made the National Championship, who just moved his whole family (including parents out to Oregon) upping and leaving a couple moths after signing a six-year deal. Also no way does Florida sit there for a month waiting for a guy. They need someone now.

I've said it before, He isn't coming to UF. Don't act like UF's facilities are like Miami's...
Oh you might have some nice pretty tv's in locker rooms and 50k fans in your stadium. While the swamp is full with 90k+ every week. 4th largest school in the country. But I do wish we had Nike like your guys. Your schools football program is kinda like the "talented new kid on the block" that annoys everyone with the flashy style.
He would be smart to stay in Oregon. He is a GOD up in those parts.
I think he is a great coach and would love to have him. He isn't going to UF, and I wonder if his style would last there.

You said the magic word there, Nike. As long as they're on board with Oregon football to the extent they have been they can't be dismissed as secondary to any program.

Why not? He just built them a 200 million dollar basketball arena. Plus they don't need a whole new stadium, they just need to expand the one side of Autzen to match the other.

Are you so sure? The guy is worth $11 billion.
Q: You have contributed millions to the University of Oregon. Now, what are you going to do to keep Chip Kelly around?
A: Yeah, he's shown some pretty good potential. (pause) We'll just do what we can to make it the best coaching job in the world.

Autzen is GORGEOUS! It's loud and intimidating. But if you're going to sacrifice that for more butts than it's not worth it. They have to do it right if they do expand.
