Honestly looks like a city of calgary truck. I worked as a garbage man over the summers while being a student for many years, and they have a bunch of these smaller ones still hanging about. I never really saw them leave the site, but they were used on site a fair bit. As for the time or intent, no idea, but it did look like a city truck, they even have the shovels on the back as you described.

No, but I believe the city sells off a lot of their used vehicles to 3rd parties, which is where the markings are usually taken off. I was just saying that it looked a lot like one of those trucks, not that it necessarily was city property! Sorry for the confusion.
Have you started keeping your back light on all the time? IIRC you had one video where the guys went through the backyard and set off the motion detecting light and they tried to disarm it?
If the guy was about to rob you, wouldn't he pull forward so the back of the truck would be more accessible to dump the stuff in? And on the other hand if it was just Joe Schmuck pulling over to use his cell, why did he back in?
Or maybe this was just another "casing" and the break in is still gonna happen.
After watching the video I can't see it being a garbage truck. When you get the profile view of the truck the back end isn't really curved at all, must just be the way that one picture looked. Also in the video that it clearly a ladder on the side and not a bin lift system.
so here is the video, you guys think it's suspicious?
Not really, The driver didn't get out of his truck and afterall it's an alley. Telus/Shaw/Enmax all have outside service companys doing their work (especially after hours work) for them. more than likely it's just a guy getting off a snowy road to check paperwork.

Except with his street, there is zero reason why you wouldn't just sit in the middle of the street rather than pull off the road, because there is no through traffic.
The only part of it that strikes me as really strange is how far back he pulled into the alley, which makes it suspicious for sure.

Good point... why not just stop once you were off the road? Why continue until you were behind the garage?
Actually, FG is there any traffic that goes by on either of the streets he would be facing there, right before he leaves? Maybe waiting for someone else to drive past?
I do agree with your assessment about being the same as the previoulsy mentioned truck owner though. Maybe he works in the golden triangle area (is that still what is called?) south of Peigan, north of 50th. A quick trip around there in the daytime would probably spot these trucks in the yard if that was the case.
Also, maybe he frequently comes home at that time of the day with that truck so a trip around the block (and in alleys) might turn up something.

ya it just seems very suspicous, i'm pretty sure he was scoping it out, just doesnt make sense, he backed up pretty fast too.
i watched the footage a minute earlier and saw the truck come down 36 st, so he came directly to my house from a main road. to pull behind my garage, why would he do that?

I thought of that, that's why I think it's some sort of contractor.
Are there fiber boxes/electrical boxes near the pole with cables going up it? (where he parked)
Anyway if it's a thief he's got a nice piece of equipment to load up with, although it's too small for the big stuff!
