19-1 in the Georgia Dome with Matt Ryan starting at QB for them.

The Falcons last two losses at home came pretty much a year ago exactly (against the Eagles & Saints) with Chris Redman starting when Matt Ryan was hurt.

Matt Ryan's only home loss came November 16th 2008, against the Denver Broncos.

That is pretty crazy.

This defense is just not the same without Asante Samuel.

Let that be a lesson to you Michael Vick. You should only ever throw to DeSean Jackson. Enough of this giving all your targets to Jeremy Maclin BS.

Eagles look totally unprepared. Officiating has been terrible tonight. It's been terrible for both teams so I'm not using it as an excuse, but it's been really bad.

I hate spot challenges. They are almost never overturned.

Overturned! Now punch it in!

Awesome. 34-24 Eagles. Adios Texans.

There's just something about Matt Schaub. Guy puts up great numbers but he's just not a winner. He wasn't awful but in games the Texans need to win desperately he always fails to make the big plays.

there are problems with the Texans for sure, but I put Schaub WAY down the list of those things.

You want to know where to start with that team? How about the pass defense.

Through the first 12 games of the year they are the worst team in stopping the pass game...in 70 years. Historically bad.

Did they even have the forward pass 70 years ago?

Sammy Baugh says...yes!

Regardless though...Texans worst pass defense basically...ever.

Kansas City Chiefs QB Matt Cassel is the AFC offensive player of the month.

http://chiefsblog.kansascity.com/?q=node/1566

Pretty impressive accomplishment. Those of you who are regulars in this thread know that I have been very critical of Matt Cassel from the moment he became a Kansas City Chief. I'm still not sold on his ability to go out and win a game late in the fourth quarter. However he has put up some pretty impressive numbers so far this season. Dewayne Bowe has become a superstar, setting the Chiefs record for most TD catches in a season with five games remaining. I think Matt owes some of his award to Bowe.

The most important thing is that the Chiefs are playing meaningful football in December. Big difference from the previous three seasons where the Chiefs didn't play a meaningful game outside of September.

You were also pretty darn hard on Pioli, and right now it sure does look like a lot of good player personnel decisions being made. Cassel may have appeared too expensive, but his play has allowed you to shore up the rest of your team. This has been a pretty quick turn around.

I was hard on Pioli. As a fan its hard watching your team get killed every week with no end in sight. I had to vent somewhere, and that somewhere is here where I can make an ass of myself because its anonymous.

Still, a lot of the players making plays this season are players that Carl Peterson and Herm Edwards brought in. I think Pioli has got the right coach and the right co-ordinators in place to maximize the potential of these players. The job that Romeo Crennel has done with that defense is simply amazing.

One slap against Pioli is his 2009 draft class. I'll have to do my research on this. I read recently that outside of Tyson Jackson (who is looking to be a world class bust), none or only one of the other draft picks from that class is still playing in the NFL. However, he was hired in February of that year and only had a small amount of time to prepare for that draft.

Edit: Only four of the 8 picks from the 2009 draft are currently on the team. The lone shinning star is K Ryan Succop (so far).

It's never easy to draft guys with another regimes scouts. Using that 2nd round pick to get Cassel and Mike Vrabel does have to count for something too. Having had a full year to get all his people in place you can really see the team starting to take shape. The coaching staff deserves a lot of credit though as guys like Dwayne Bowe and Derrick Johnson who didn't fit initially have battled back and are playing at their talent levels. Haley and Weiss have done a really good job with Cassel too. To me he's playing as well or better than Trent Green ever did and thats really all a Cheifs fan can ask for.

Credit does need to go to Petersons staff for their 08 draft as Dorsey, Albert, and Flowers are all solid starters and Jamaal Charles is a star running back who doesn't get much press.
