Sounds like Obama didn't need to help derail the U.S. bid:

Clinton and Freeman Duff It...

Quote:
...But instead of the magnetism that defined his eight years in the White House, Clinton sounded dry, reading off his script and spending much time talking about his foundation and his past achievements...

Freeman also was off his captivating best, even making a mistake as he was reading his opening statement."I'm sorry, I missed a page," Freeman said after realizing his speech was going in a different direction...
World Cup games in Seattle or Denver would be great, my kids would be 17 and 15 at that point, that would create lifelong memories!

Russia getting the WC would be a logistical nightmare. The England bid is the most solid, but the anti-English bias within FIFA and the ridiculous, intrusive UK media are the two biggest problems. Plus Russians couldn't organize a p*ss up in a brewery.

This is but one of many reasons why I can't stand the BBC.

thank you Panorama

I did love Lineker saying on MOTD last weekend that the WC bid is fully supported by BBC Sport, emphasis on Sport

A pitch invasion is small potatoes compared to some of the nonsense that the Rusians get up to in and around stadiums. Unfortunately that doesn't get a whole lot of attention from any media outlets.

England and Russia are now co-favorites with the main European sports books at 6/5

People are betting on who gets the bid? Why am I surprised, people will bet on anything...

ya the English sports books have tons of props on random things like

who will get eliminated on reality shows (like X factor or big brother) who will win certain awards (movies/music), who will be the next manager to get sacked, whether there is going to be snow etc.

if a certain number of bets come in they take it off though, I remember they did that with "where will Joe Cole sign" about a week before he did last summer because a bunch of bets came in on Man United

My selfish picks are England/USA... if I were to attempt to get to these, those would be the easiest ones to get to.
