Coke in glass bottles

Figured I'd ask around here; seeing as the Coke website is pretty generic.

I know a number of people like myself prefer Coke in a glass bottle; probably the same way that many people prefer beer from a glass bottle. For a few years I have been seeing it in the 237 ml (8 oz) bottles at retail stores; and just now I have seen a few of the 355 ml (12 oz) glass bottles around. (A place in Cross Iron Mills sells them.)

Of course buying soft drinks from a restaurant is pretty costly, so I was wondering if anybody had seen these 355 ml bottles at a retail level?

They are everywhere in Egypt. I think it might have been the first time I actually had a Coke from an actual glass bottle. If you order a Coke or Pepsi in a restaurant, you will get it in a glass bottle.

Doesn't help you over here though.

Few things on earth taste as good as an ice cold Coke in a glass bottle. Cans are ok, but plastic bottles...yuck.

Saw them at Safeway in Garrison Woods yesterday. Not in the soft drink section though, they were randomly placed by the meat.

Ugh, drinking anything out of plastic bottle sucks. Glass is my favorite too, but the one good thing about cans is that they tend to get colder than glass. The colder the coke the better imo.

My order of preference is Glass > Cans > Fountain > Plastic....although fountain can be pretty hit or miss.

Am I the only one who can't tell a huge difference between bottles or cans?? I don't get the guy above who said plastic=yuck. Why is it so bad in a plastic bottle?? Maybe the last of the bottle is flat and I can understand that, but I don't get the hate for plastic bottles.

Everything tastes the same to me and if there is a difference, it's very minimal.

It's the same idea as eating a slice of pizza with a fork & knife, it tastes different.

I only buy my beers in bottles too. Cans suck because they warm the beverage up faster.

I got my case of glass bottle Mexican Coke when I was @ Costco in Spokane.

The big problem is Coke made with sugar as opposed to corn syrup tastes a million times better. When I moved to Iceland the difference shocked me, it reminded me of the 80's when Coke used to still use real sugar and tasted awesome.

Not sure if it's the case in Canada, but you can buy Mexican Coke (it uses cane sugar) at Costco.

I wish more places would have those little half-cans.

Those mini-cans are pretty readily available at TNT. But yeah I'm definitely a fan of the smaller portion.

No way. I hate pop from a plastic bottle. If I'm in the market for a soft drink, say, while driving or something, and I stop at a gas station for a pop, it'll be a can every time. It's like plastic bottles just aren't cold or something. I almost never finish a pop from a plastic bottle, but I'll down a can in no time.

Me too. I'm not sure why but I simply CANNOT finish a regular can of coke anymore.

fountain is the best way to drink a soft drink from a gas station or convenience store.

I would like to find out about glass bottles as well, the taste is way better

I also prefer my beer poured into a glass, it tastes better IMO

Coke tastes different from different containers mainly because it hits different parts of your tongue when you drink it.

Just like slurpees will touch different parts of your tongue when you spoon it, vs when you drink it from the straw.

Coke has been served in glass bottles around the world for years. This isnt something they just came up with suddenly
