Default Eat potatoes only for 2 months...lose weight, lower cholesteral and blood sugar

Ummm...yeah.

Quote:
And while Voigt is not recommending his diet to others as a "healthy sustainable" weight-loss plan, it did help him lower his blood sugar, cut his total cholesterol by over a third, and reduce his weight from 197 to 176 pounds, he said

By the time his self-imposed diet ended at midnight Monday, Voigt had consumed 400 pounds of potatoes -- about 20 spuds a day for 60 days -- and in virtually every shape and form imaginable, he said in a telephone interview.

20 potatoes a day???

I don't think I could eat 5...unless I was purposely attempting to eat more than I needed ala the ol' Junior Bacon Cheeseburger challenge.

Why not just eat vegetarian and lose weight AND be healthy?
Then as opposed to going back to the regular way of eating after this diet and gaining back all of your weight, stay Veggie and keep the weight off.

Or why not just go back to our caveman roots and force everyone to hunt and fish for their dinner and use vegitables for their intended purpose, as garnishe to be flicked off of your plate after eating a huge chunk of stegasaurous.

You never saw a fat caveman because they had to chase their food. You never saw a fat cavewoman because they were basically covered in hair.

And your lifespan was 30 years, anything longer then that is an illustration that life is a horrible thing.

Why does a Potato Commission even exist? Is that, like, a full-time gig? Are they funded by Ireland or something?

Fighting for the rights of spuds everywhere, I guess.

Just because you're a vegetarian doesn't mean you're fit and healthy... I know some people who are 'vegetarian' yet they are fat and overweight. White flour, sugar, and the 'meatless' foods they consume is the reason I assume.

You could eat only chocolate every day for a month and still lose weight and improve cholesterol and blood sugar, so long as you burn more calories than you take in, as well as the gain in health (ie cholesterol) from losing weight is bigger than the loss in health from eating the same thing everyday.

Potatoes have a high GI, so it's not like it's some sort of miracle food either way.

Right, because nothing says healthy like cutting out two entire food groups.

Eating meat has nothing to do with your weight.

20 potatoes? Makes me a little nauseous just thinking about it. Gross. I could barely eat two potatoes a day.

His protest is misguided. Taking out white potatoes was an attempt to get people to diversify. Living in Idaho I found a lot of people are simply ignorant about vegetables and fruits. I was really surprised. They'd just eat tons of carbs and think it was vaguely healthy.

You poor herbivores. I can't imagine a life without steak, bacon, salmon, pork chops, ribs, chicken wings, fried chicken, turkey, ham, prime rib, battered cod, lobster, roast beef, tuna, hamburgers, pepperoni, shrimp, and all the things that require ground beef.
