Checked again today..........the rink's not flooded, but the pleasure pond has ice. Not too much lift, though.

Have they cleared any snow? Packed down the surface, anything? Damn.

The hockey rink? Nope. Brutal, actually. Second year in a row. I know it's a tough rink since it has a sand base, not asphalt or cement, but if they raked the sand and packed the snow, it'd be a piece of cake.

Last year, they made one feeble attempt. I brought in my recycling and I could hear water running in the rink. Excited, I clambered down the hill to see that they were flooding................a snow drift.

Any suggestions in the deep south? I went to Lake Shawnessy a whole lot last year as I live 2 minutes walk from the entrance, but there are no boards and my slapshot isn't very accurate. I seem to spend more time looking for pucks than skating around.

I'm hoping for good ice and not very busy. Any suggestions?

I was at Haysboro this AM--don't know if that qualifies as "deep" south, but their ice is good, they have indoor change rooms, and two full size rinks with boards.

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

Anyone been out playing lately? I haven't had time to go check out the rinks but I don't imagine they're doing too well right now...

Depends on how well the rinks are maintained. If they are flooded every few days, the rinks are still in good shape. A little soft, easy to carve up.

Does anyone know of rinks close to coventry hills area? that are playable for hockey once they freeze? The rink in Deer run is really good as well, they have a zamboni so the ice is always well taken care of

Highwood - we were skating on Saturday, November 20 and all the lights were replaced this year, very well lit this year. Lights are on until 11:00PM. Ice still a bit rough on edges and in the corners due to some new volunteers, but all should be fairly good by Sunday evening if the weather keeps cool enough for proper flooding/freezing.

Also know that North Haven (boards on grass) has been flooding as well as Rosemont (on grass & no boards) and Highland Park (on grass and supposed to have new boards, but nothing up yet). No action yet at Cambrian Heights (on grass and no boards) as of last night.

I played at Stanley Park on Sunday night. It's in alright shape, probably was a little rough due to all the kids on the ice but still pretty good for November. Elbow Park (33rd Ave and 7th Street SW) has both rinks open, they are busy as well so we didn't try those out.

From what I hear, Hawkwood is flooded but "closed". Not sure what closed means but I'm going to test it out with some buddies on Wed night.

Anything near Bridgeland? They were supposed to put a new one in this year but I don't see any signs of it (unless I'm not looking in the right places).

i think there is one on 8 ave near stanley jones school. it's small and no boards, but has fence behind nets. i'm not sure if it's open yet though.
