Eh, I don't know. Doakes was kind of a one-note cursing machine. I don't think he deserved to go out like he did, but he would be by far the most annoying character on the show if he was still around.

Why doesn't anyone seem to be as offended as I am by the "acting" of Julia Stiles. She is easily the worst actor/actress to be on the show. She ruins nearly every episode for me. This season actually ranks below season 3 in my mind (mostly because of the scene early in the season where Lumen and Dexter follow the blood trail through the warehouse - the worst scene in the history of the show).
The last two episodes have been better, actually the show seems to be finding its rhythm. I like the suggestion that Emily is probably the one behind the video camera.
Also, I am curious as to how Dexter is going to get out of this now that there is video evidence of his training Lumen.
Doakes was my favourite supporting character too.

I don't think Emily is the mastermind. I like the idea that Jordan is the evil ruler of this group and molds them. Even the way he was talking to Alex on the phone made it seem as though he's the puppet master. And the way Boyd worshipped him.
I think that Robocop guy gets in Chase's way when Dex is hunting Chase down. Chase has him killed and thru some luck the footage that Robocop guy has is destroyed or Dex gets it.
I'd hate for Stiles to die but I can't see how else this season will go. Dexter can't have a permanent partner. Then next season he'll be even more lone wolf like because he'll have had 2 women taken from him.
I could see Lumen being killed and Dexter unintentionally framing Lumen. Deb already thinks it is a female vigilante. Dexter will get off and Lumen will take the fall. But then Deb would know that Dexter was helping Lumen...

Exactly, Doakes was one dimensional and a poor character to keep around. It was smart to get rid of him. Lt. Maria Laguerta was also annoying that way but they at least began writing her better. Joey Quinn is how Doakes should have been. Still a bit annoying but not quite one dimensional.
Enjoying this series so far!

Agreed, the two of them as a partnership has no lasting value as a season 6 storyline...
Here's my prediction:
Deb gets too close and Lumen is forced to take the fall. She doesn't have to go to prison, but maybe she leaves to return to her family (or start a Dexter franchise in another city).
Deb might even have a chance to bring Lumen down but let's her get away because at heart she's Harry's kid. As usual, she'll turn a blind eye towards Dexter's possible involvement.
As for Liddy...no idea. Dexter can't kill him (he's a slimeball but not a killer). The prediction that he'll get in the way somehow and get offed then makes as much sense as any.

Can someone explain to me how Dexter and Lumen didn't get caught by Deb and whatever his name is? I must've glossed over that part, because I thought they were in the same house.

I thought Dexter was the blood guy? I don't remember him ever taking a DNA sample from anyone; I guess Masuka was on lunch break.

I posted earlier in this thread that I don't think she's a poor actress at all. Not that I'm an esteemed critic or anything but I find her pleasantly believable.

So how does this go down for Dexter now him and Lumen are an 'item.'
Once they kill off Jordan will Lumen's bloodlust be sated? Will that be closure for her? Will she however remain content with Dexter's dark passenger? I guess that would solve his babysitting headaches.
I can't see Lumen living through this season though - I think she'll be the fall girl for all these killings. I also can't see anymore learning of Dexter's involvement and living - his connections to all these killers through the season's and not to be involved with them would be just to implausible.

while i agree that the logical course for this show to take would be Lumen dying, the writers are all about taking twists that no one sees coming. in every season they've had a guest star as the main supporting actor, and they've all died. now everyone likely expects the same from Lumen, so i'm gonna go against the grain and say that she lives. IMO it will boil down to a showdown between Dexter and Robocop, and Lumen will be the one to save Dexter. next season is all but guaranteed to be the finale, so i think they continue to explore Dexter teaching Lumen the code (just like how he does in the books with his kids) and she'll be the one to carry on his work after his inevitable demise
that's just my guess
BTW who the hell was the actor playing Alex Tisdale? i know him from somewhere but can't place it and it's bugging the hell out of me
EDIT: and of course right after posting that it instantly comes to me. Sergeant Malarkey from Band of Brothers

i was surprised the baby sitter/harrison didn't appear after the scene of them leaving for orlando.....perhaps it is because chase has them as leverage or something

Unless it's part of some setup for the next season, I'm starting to think the whole "sinister babysitter" angle is just not going to happen. Chances are she's just a decent, non-crazy, babysitter to get the story line off of Harrison and back into the real action. Otherwise Dexter would have to be hauling that baby everywhere he goes.

I agree. Rita stuck around for a couple years. So I think Lumen will as well.
