The Sharks came out of the gates playing dirty with Cowan taking a head-butting penalty and Marchment getting a high-sticking penalty within the first 13 minutes.
But by this time Brylin (7), Stoll (3) and Cleary (8) had given the Avs a 3-0 lead. The Avs, winless in four needed a strong start to the game and their second and third lines came through.
Marchment closed the gap to two midway through the second but Malakhov and Stoll responded for the Avs.
Legace was solid in net, stopping 18 of 19 Sharks shots.
Trnka had three assists from the point giving him the First Star honours.

New Look Pens beat Flames!!
The Pittsburgh Penguins are starting to play up to their potential once again. The Pens pulled together a total team effort to win their second straight game, a 6-3 romp of the Calgary Flames. The third line did most of the damage with Alexander Frolov earning 1st star honours with a goal and 2 assists, Niko Dimotrakos added 2 assists and Erik Rasmussen added his first tally as a Pen. Alex Daigle scored for a third straight game and Mike Ribeirio and Jan Bulis each added a goal and an assist to help the attack. Next up for the Pens is a saturday afternoon tilt against the Habs in Montreal.

Predators captain Mario Lemiuex after the Preds 5-0 crushing of the Devils
Well it was thanksgiving day, and the fans in New Jersey are thankfull that they will no longer have to witness live what is proving to be another disasterous season for the New Jersey Devils. Today is probably the lowest point in franchise history as not only did the Devils get thouroughly annihilated in perhaps the most one sided game in CPHL history, but they also burned down there arena with a mishap involving a Turkey Deepfryer, a misplaced cigarette butt by Jani Hurme and John Madden's holliday Turducken.
First things first, the game itself. The Predators star players came into todays tilt a hungry bunch, and the certainly feasted on a nice helping of really bad CPHL opposition. Mario Lemiuex collected a pair of goals before the game was even 5 minutes old. First Lemieux deked Devils defenceman Andy Delmore out of his jock strap on a brilliant move that was only rivaled by the finishing move he put on Hurme to open the scoring at the 4:26 mark. It was only another 1:03 until Lemiuex would strike again as he tapped in a gimme standing at the side of the net to make it 2-0 Preds. Naslund ran the score to 3-0 on a trademark wrist shot as he crossed through the slot, used Delmore as a screen, and caught Hurme leaning the wrong way. After that it was a realtively uneventful game as Paul Kariya, and Sergei Fedorov joined in the glamour boys score today parade with single tallies in each of the last two periods to make the final 5-0 Preds.
Now the real news. Prior to the game Devils forward John Madden thought he would fire his team up by doing like his football commentator namesake and cook up a Turducken and allot parts of the mutated bird concoction to various players on the Devil team who he thought played well. So confident that his team mates would respond Madden brought the bird, and his Turkey deepfryer to the rink and began prepping the bird prior to the opening faceoff. Despite the bad start Madden still believed someone on the team would come through, and as a means of inspiration tossed the bird in the deepfryer as the team took to the ice for the second period. As the bird cooked, the Devils continued to play lacklustre hockey. After the 5th goal was scored Jani Hurme was pulled from the game and CPHL rookie Mike Morrison saw his first ever CPHL action. After making 3 saves in just over 5 minutes of play John Madden determined that he was the only Devil who was any fata'ing good on the day and awarded the entire Turducken to Morrison. As the Preds changed and sipped on a nice perfectly chosen French Chardonnay and ate their turkey courtesy of Mario Lemieux the Devils were about to unleash total chaos. After Madden told his team that they all played like shinguard except for the rookie goalie he went to pull the Turducken out of the deepfryer. At the same time, Andy Delmore still dizzy from the first period deke he saw from Lemieux lost his balance and knocked over the deepfryer. As this happened Jani Hurme was tossing his half smoked ciggarette on the floor to spark up another one after a stressfull day on the ice. The result was the ciggarette butt igniting the spilled cooking oil, and a blaze taking over the Devils dressing room. Mike Morrison grabbed the Turducken, Arron Asham grabbed the beer, and Fernando Pisani latched onto the two groupies hanging around as the Devils fled their dressing room sounding the fire alarm. Fortunately all of the 19040 fans had left the game by the 10 minute mark of the third, as did most of the arena staff. The Preds, Devils, and all remaining personnel at the Continental Airlines arena safely escaped to the parking lot. The fire department who just laughed when they got the call never did show up, and a New Jersey landmark was burned to the ground.

Outside the players from both teams were in awe as the old junky crappy barn went up in Flames. Some players commented as they watched. "A Turducken eh? I mean I think I have an outstanding knowlege of wine, but......to be honest I have no idea what type of wine I'd reccommend to accompany a serving of Turducken. Maybe some $3 Zinfendel from a grocery store? Certainly nothing of value." commented Wine connasseur and Preds captain Mario Lemieux. Devils goalie Mike Morrison offered up "Well it's not as bad as it looks, but it's not that good that we needed to burn down the rink to cook it." In regards to the source of the fire. John Madden was slightly distraught only saying "It wasn't supposed to be like this", and Devils part owner George Steinbrenner said "Good the insurance company is obigated to build me a new rink. The tax payers are usually too cheap to give me what I want."
As of right now the Devils have temporarily scheduled their remaining home games to take place in the home of their AHL affiliate Albany. But it's rumored that the Devils will look for a different home as it's likely at least two years until a new arena can be built in East Rutherford.

If there was any doubt about whether or not Milan Hejduk was the true MVP of the league last season then look no further to the collapse of the Hurricanes post the explosive wingers departure from Raleigh. GM Hanna is to meet with Hurricanes owner Peter Karmanos Jr. late tonight to discuss the GM’s recent acquisitions.
On a positive note the red hot Alexander Ovechkin has scored a goal in each of his last four games bringing his season output to 5 goals.

PARRISH DELIVERS WITH TWO IN VICTORY

UNIONDALE, NY - Mark Parrish and Kristian Huselius had a pair of goals each to pace the Islanders to an exciting 4-3 overtime victory.
Marcel Hossa exacted revenge on his former teammates on Wednesday night with a pair of goals, but it was Mark Parrish who led the way Thursday scoring twice and adding two assists against his former team the Winnipeg Jets.
Parrish was greeted with boos throughout the game but silenced the crowd in Winnipeg at 11:26 of the first period when he scored on the powerplay to put the Islanders up by a goal.
Kristian Huselius would score his 11th of the season 5 minutes later sneaking in alone between the two Winnipeg defenders to beat Chris Mason with a nifty move before depositing the puck in the net.
The Jets however would claw their way back into the match scoring once before the end of the first period and again in the second, before Stu Barnes who was awarded with powerplay time for his spirited efforts in the first period would beat Thibault with a low screen shot giving the Jets their first lead of the game.
Huselius would answer in the third however with a controversial goal which after review was deemed a fair goal by the officials tieing the game at 3-3. On the play, a shot from the stick of Mark Parrish ended up going past the Winnipeg goaltender off of Kristian Huselius' skate. The official CPHL rules state that a "distinct 'kicking' motion" must be visible in order for the goal to be overturned, but after a lengthy consultation between the video goal judges and the referees, it was decided that the goal would stand giving Kristian Huselius his second goal of the game.
The night would end off even worse in overtime for the hometown fans when former Jet Mark Parrish, with Stu Barnes in the box serving a hooking penalty, beat Mason with a one-timer on the powerplay to give the Islanders their 3rd straight victory.
Next up for the Islanders is a game on Saturday when they face off against the Los Angeles Kings in California.
Game Notes - The Islanders are 7-1-2 in their last 10 games making them one of the hottest clubs in the CPHL... During their current streak, the Islanders have received strong performances from all four lines with different players stepping up on different nights to contribute... Sergei Gonchar is still struggling to find that elusive first goal as an Islander since being acquired from the Calgary Flames over two weeks ago... Defenceman Janne Laukkanen of the Islanders announced earlier Thursday afternoon that he is retiring from the CPHL... Laukkanen has struggled this season with a knee injury which is apparently not getting any better.

The top line was very good again today. Chris Mason had a strong effort while DiPietro sat in the press box. Power play was ok going 1-3.
Negatives:
Mark Parrish killed us tonight with a 4 point game. The deal seems to have worked out well for both teams. The penalty killing which was going really well ran into a decent Islander power play which scored twice including the overtime winning goal.
Player of the Game:
Radek Bonk for his 2 goals. Bonk has 14 points in his first 10 games as a Jet.

40 SHOTS ON GOAL. That's what the Stars defense allowed in tonight's game against Edmonton. Good thing Alex Perezhogin decided to show up and keep the score respectable. Nice performance by the Stars' newest addition getting the hat trick. The defense desperately needs to be upgraded and Stars' management can't wait for it's young defensive stalwarts to emerge (next year  ). One thing's for sure, we don't need Matty Barnaby taking that many shots every game. Although I guess someone has to take the shots. It's gonna be a long year in Dallas.

Hawks Thankful for Win
The Hawks and Coyotes both apparently suffered from tryptophan overload in the first period of todays game. The crowd slept through the unstimulating period that featured 2 SOG for the visiting Coyotes and 5 for the home team Hawks. Intermission featured IV caffiene and both teams actually played the remaining 2 periods.
The Hawks opened the scoring, and the Coyotes responded with two in the second. When the Coyotes scored in the third to make it 3-1 the Hawks fans, instead fall into a quite stupor, began to chant and cheer. Probably pumpkin pie adrenalin enhanced cheering, mixed with copious amounts of beer. Nevertheless, the Hawks responded with 19 SOG and 3 markers, lifting them to a 4-3 win over the Yotes.

Sens Fall in O/T to the wings.
After twice falling behind and seeing the team fight back both times we see the team lose in OT. Senators always seemed a step Behind the Wings all game long. On the Scoreboard, Shot clock and on the ice.
It was also a game of 2's for the Senators. As we scored 2 goals.
2 Players scored there second goals of the year that being Turgeon and Begin. It was also are second game in as many nights.
We now have to regroup and get ready for the Capitals as we end our 3 game road trip.

The Rangers can not believe they were beat by an exhausted goalie, they put over 30 shots on Luongo but for some reason he stopped all but 1. Go figure how can a goalie with a condition rating of 96 be a first star. The SIM gods hate me................DAM you.........LOL

Blues Edge Canes 6-5 in O/T
Close in the standings, and it showed in the game. Carolina came out flying in the first, with the Blues responding in kind in the second. Shots were even in the third. Both starting goalies get yanked, and the Blues end it with 50 seconds left in O/T.
Could have gone either way...and a rematch on Saturday night!
Good game Hanna - let's meet in the gondola for a pint and enjoy the rematch!
