If I get the r-rated pat down at the airport, I am going to act like I am really enoying it. Let out a big moan or something.... that way everyone is embarrassed.

Just got back from family trip to the USA. The Canadian airport security were way more intrusive than the Americans were.I am all for proper security at airports, but I draw the line at insisting on patting down my 1.5 year old and then swabbing her hands. She was freaked out and in tears for the whole process. I know there are standards, but a little bit of judgement would be in order sometimes. We are letting some people through security without even having to remove their veils, while we are patting down 1.5 year olds?In contrast, the American airport security were relaxed and trying to make her laugh, while not patting any of us down. Here I thought they were supposed to be more intense.I think we are pushing some of these things to give the illusion of security, rather than providing actual security.

You know whats hilarious, when they start doing the patdown when your going through with a friend. And as they're feeling you down, you start groaning and shaking and whispering "Oh god Oh God, go lower, yes yes don't forget my balls" Then after they're done with you your buddy walks through and says "I'll have what he's having"

When you don't set off the detector, ask for a full pat down, then do the above.

ABout a month ago, after going through the scanner and waiting for my stuff to come out of the xray machine, a guy came up to me and said "I've selected you for a physical search" or something very close to that. I said OK but I have to be at gate X in 10 minutes. He said lift up your arms and then did a pretty non intrusive physical search right there. I said I thought we were going to a back room for the search, which is why I was worried about getting to my gate, and he laughed, slightly.

I don't really care, to be honest, if they do a pat down on me right there and then, scanner or no scanner. I don't agree with checking kids that closely, unless they were wearing burka's, then I'd say go for it.

The look on this guy's face says, "Yeeahhh, that's why I took this job. This one's getting the enhanced pat-down."

Unwilling to submit to the TSA's controversial full-body scan, one enterprising traveler at LAX hoped to bypass the dreaded pat-down by wearing only a bikini through the security checkpoint.

While the merits of wearing a bikini to the airport in the name of advocating personal privacy are debatable, it did provide more fuel to fire this story in this traditionally slow news week.

I was just going to post the same link. This whole thing is BS. The scanners, the pat downs. Israel airport security is way more effective and less time consuming and less intrusive.

Not sure if anyone has posted it here yet, but there's a connection between one of the companies that makes the scanners and the IHS, it's either the ex-head of IHS or another mucky muck. Unfortunately my day job is getting in the way, but I'll look for the info later.

Just wait....this is only the beginning.

Homeland Security wants to have these scanners at malls, sporting events, concerts and any other public gatherings. Welcome to the police state America!!

Wonder how they would react if they pulled you out for the pat down and you dropped your pants and told them that you would do it yourself?

I just flew back to YYC from YVR and had been chosen for the "backscatter" machine as they call it while departing Vancouver.

I was told "Now, you can either go through the machine, or opt out but I will have to do a thorough pat-down." The security officer looked uneasy as he mentioned the pat-down. He was hoping I'd submit to being scanned so he wouldn't have to touch another man.

I grinned a rather evil grin. I'm very secure in myself and I've been through enough airports to have my privacy and security of person violated more times than I can remember by these twits. So with that evil grin, I answered "Pat down. And don't neglect the balls." He gets this blank look on his face. "If I can't enjoy air-travel anymore, neither can you."

I think next time I go through, I will take off my belt and shoes and then just keep going until I am in my shorts and socks, chuck it all in the tub and walk through the scanner with the bare essentials.

Sadly I am swamped with personal work at the moment so I can't give this post the adequate time and energy that it deserves. I do however feel that I have to give my opinion on this matter.
The TSA infuriates me like no other! I cannot stress this enough.
I fail to understand how this is not against the U.S. 4th amendment. This is a government agency stopping everyone from freely traveling around the U.S. in the fashion they prefer and choose. "Don't like it, don't fly"? I'm surprised these private companies (airlines) aren't outraged and actively showing it. I'm sure soon enough as less and less people are choosing air as their prefered method of travel since these new procedures.
If the airlines had rulings in place of added security in order to use their services I would be fine with it, because then I could choose through the use of spending my money and vote in favour of the companies that trust their customers and don't treat them as if they were criminals or terrorists.

The TSA security is simply the same as the terrorist activity IMO. Theatricals. The terrorists that hijack planes are not out there to kill the largest number of people it can. They hijack in an effort to make headlines and grab people attention. If they wanted to simply kill the most people they wanted to, they would simply shoot-up or bomb a sporting event, mall or some other place where a large number of people are gathered.
2752 deaths were filed as a result of 9/11.
I don't want to see another plane hijacked and flown into another building. How do you stop that? Arm pilots and secure the cockpit. Train pilots properly and ensure that they never open the #### pit doors under ANY circumstances.
Bringing a bomb or other deadly object onto a plane is no different than bringing the same things onto a train, or into a mall/sporting event as previously brought up. If all you accomplish is bringing down one plane, you are only going to kill roughly what 300 people? The same amount that probably ride a NY or London subway.
It is unfortunate that some deaths may occur, but if we are truly after prevent all deaths, we will have to start searching people as soon as they exit their homes. Actually cameras within people's homes may be necessary because if one lives within a heavily populated high-rise condo building, a bomb within one's home can do quite a bit of damage and cause many deaths.

As I stated earlier, the TSA is simply theatricals, I've heard reports that the scanners were off-line yesterday (the busiest day in the U.S. for air travel) to ensure that lines were not too long and people got onto their planes smoothly. (http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/201...t_controv.html) - just one example

I'm sure we have all read reports about how attractive people are being targeted. Whether the majority of these are true or not, I'm sure it has happened and is 100% unacceptable IMO.

I don't want my mom, sister, grandmother or children (actually anyone I know) sexually assaulted. That is exactly what these new pat downs are!
I also don't want any of my friends or relatives starring in pornographic images. I don't care if the images are done artistically or not.
The scanners themselves are also harmful. The full effects unfortunately are not yet known. The TSA doesn't allow the operators to wear radioactive badges that test the amount.
A new report is now implying with doctors assertions, that as more physical touching occurs, spreadable diseases will rise "Doctors warn of spread of communicable diseases through direct contact with skin; poses far greater risk to public health than statistical chance of being a victim of terrorism"

The owner of the company the sells the scanning machines is the former homeland security head. Using his connections much?
http://www.wcvarones.com/2010/11/tsa...-homeland.html

As I said sorry I couldn't put much more effort into this post. Sorry if it comes off as scrambled or under-researched. I urge everyone to check out
http://www.reddit.com/r/tsa/
and
http://www.reddit.com/r/OperationGrabAss/

Both these links are very similar, there are simply sites that people posts links exclusively about news regarding these new TSA procedures.
