David Spence was just on 660 saying that report it bogus. This morning there were places even in Alberta colder, let alone the rest of the world.

edit: without spending more than 15 seconds searching I found a place in Greenland that is colder:

edit again: Plenty in Russia below -30:

Lol seriously? Pressing the brakes in that situation is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. At least wait untill you pass those cars and then do it. Did the person actually expect to stop on a icy hill?

I know you think thats driving 101 but that street is un-driveable, the car made it half way up the hill and it just fell backwards.

The ######ed part is trying to drive on hills of ice period.

I think the best thing to do would be NOT driving up an ice hill. Suggesting he just let go of the break and see how fast he can smash into cars is perhaps the dumbest advice i've seen ... ever

You could blame every cities planners for putting streets on hills where freezing rain with a nice topping of snow is bound to happen, Calgary doesn't have to worry about this but where I grew up you learn fast when and where to drive. If you don't...

Potluck is 100% right on this, locking up is a fools solution to an icy situation.

I don't disagree, but I think that either way it was going to end badly on that hill. Pumping the brakes might have helped ever so slightly, but inertia was going to win regardless.

yes, an icy situation. the solution for this guy was to NOT go up this hill. once he was and started coming down in a total uncontrolled slide... just coming down in nuetral and gathering speed is a very dangerous proposition. it turns a fender bender into possibly a serious injury
