Default planes overhead...

i just saw a very large aircraft, being accompanied by 5 smaller (fighter jets?) planes. they were heading from southeast to northwest at an unusual low altitude for the size of plane.

anybody else see this or know how to find out what it was?

USAF F-22's with their tanker, probably heading to Alaska (Elmendorf AFB has a squadron of the F-22's).

Bookermorgan on SSP/twitter got a few pics:

Funny thing is, I'm kind of in this picture! I just wish I was looking outside at that point!

This is the second time I'm aware of that a flight of F-22's and their tanker have come over YYC, here is a photo from the other overflight:

You and me both! Heck if I had some heads up I could have grabbed my 300mm lens and got some closer shots than what Morgan was able to grab. He took those just outside the Sunterra at Keynote.

Most likely KC-10 cruise speed, so ~700 km/h. They were over Calgary just before 1pm.

Wish I would have seen it.

While in Seoul, I saw about 10 sets of 4 or 5 fighters flying in formation (about 30 seconds apart). Awesome sight but pretty freaky considering the unpredictable neighbors to the north.

One has a much higher chance of happening than the other.

Even now that the F-22 acquisition plans have been scaled back?

Back when I was living in Shanghai I noticed fighter jets regularly flying over the part of the city I was in. After I starter paying attention I noticed that on a daily basis I would see two fighter jets fly over every 3 hours or so.
