Btards steal dog tied up in front of Safeway.

They must be Flames gimp's neighbors!
Not sure why she would leave a pug outside though. They are so small and easy to steal. It is pretty sad she lost a baby to sids though.
 http://www.calgaryherald.com/life/Ca...783/story.html
Holmlund called the police and examined the security tapes: Tyson, her light brown, flat-faced companion had been stolen.
"I just needed to run in and get some things for dinner. I'd left Tyson outside many times before and thought he would be fine," she said.
Security tapes show three people behind the heist.
There was a woman with her brown hair in a ponytail, carrying an ostensibly fake Louis Vuitton bag, and her friend, sporting curly hair and a hoodie.
The two women patted the pup before the theft.

I'm absolutely not excusing the thieves, but I can't say I feel any sympathy for the victim. She shouldn't have left her dog unattended. Is it even legal to leave an unattended dog tied up on property that isn't your own?

They probably came from Forest Lawn. That's the great thing about Forest Lawn. The criminals from Forest Lawn infest the nicer areas for their criminal activities.

I saw the nicest rottweiler outside of safeway on the weekend, gave him a solid pat but couldn't follow through with the dog napping! People really should be able to leave their dogs outside without worrying about this.

As a dog owner myself, I hate people who are irresponsible with their pets. Whenever I'm walking my dog, I assume everyone I meet on the sidewalk has a phobia of animals and pull her leash in tight instead of letting her run up to people and "be friendly". If people want to pet my dog, they can ask me if it's ok and then approach her, but I'll never let her jump up on strangers who may or may not appreciate her affections. I wish more dog owners would do the same.

I can't even imagine leaving my dog tied up outside of a store without supervision. That seems like the height of irresponsible pet ownership to me.

I have a small dog (11lbs) and she doesn't get tied anywhere. I also feel uneasy leaving her locked in the car.

There are some strange people out there.

thats because Brett Sutter has already been traded, so they cant talk about him anymore!

whether or not the owner was irresponsible by tying her dog up doesn't mean she deserves to have her best friend stolen. Who steals a dog anyways?

Thank You! I wish all dog owners were like you!! I love dogs, truly I do, unfortunately I'm really allergic to them too. If I touch one I have to wash my hands immediately and usually also change my cloths incase any fur or dander got on them, if they lick me I get hives almost instantly, sometimes badly enough that I've had to use steroid creams or get steroid shots to make them go away. I have friends that have dogs and if I know I'm going to go over and hang out with them I take antihistamines so that I don't get that kind of reaction (plus then I can play with the dogs in relative comfort ). But I've had people get offended or upset with me for moving away from their animals, one lady that thought it would be a great idea to get on the elevator in my office building with her dog freaked out at me saying "she's not going to hurt you . . ." etc So thank you for being considerate of others, we don't all have phobias some of us just can't physically handle it.

Agreed, but it must suck for you that every kid that is afraid of dogs has the same excuse "I'm allergic!"

As a kid I was terrified of dogs mostly because I was wrongly taught that dogs were this terrible animal that will bite you for no reason. So whenever there was a dog unleashed at the playground we'd all climb to the highest point and yell "we're allergic!".

As I grew older I actually started loving dogs and realized they were one of the smartest animals. The moral of the story is there are some really inconsiderate dog owners out there. A lot of kids are scared of dogs for whatever reason so people should be more considerate especially to those people like yourself that are actually allergic to them.

I live near a family who are tremendously inconsiderate with their dog. They live on the ground floor of a downtown condo and often allow their dog to hang out off-leash in their garage. When pedestrians walk by on the sidewalk, the dog will run and bark and jump at them. One time my wife was caught off-guard by this and let out a startled scream -- not because she's afraid of dogs, but because she was surprised. Instead of apologizing and tying up the dog, the owners just laughed at my wife. They also very frequently allow their dog to run off-leash in the nearby park (which is NOT a designated off-leash dog park).

I've politely mentioned a few times to them that they aren't permitted to do this, and they've always responded rudely as if I was the problem. "Oh, she's not going to hurt you." That could very well be true, but it's not the point. I've also found dog poo in the same park mentioned above many times. While I can't say for certain that it was the same dog, given the owners' other behaviour, it wouldn't surprise me at all if they didn't clean up after it.

I don't want to cause a conflict with my neighbours, but next time I catch them doing this, I think I'm going to call the bylaw officer on them. I can't imagine how traumatized someone who had a severe dog phobia (or an allergy, like the poster above) would react to these people.
