Weekly Outdoor Shinny Game
Hey CP,
After an awesome summer of ball hockey, I am planning on organizing a weekly outdoor shinny game for the winter. The idea is to do a sign-up similar to what we did in the summer and get a good, consistent group coming out.
As most people that play pick-up know, there are a ton of factors including times, tempertures, ice conditions and others playing on the ice, so days and times may flucuate a bit week to week.
Im also intrested in hearing location ideas so that we can make it work best for everyone.
Potentially I have five locations that would be good, really want to narrow it down to most convienant for everyone:
1.) Varsity Acres Community Association. NW - 4 votes
2.) Ranchlands NW - 4 votes
3.) Signal Hill - 5 votes
4.) Canyone Meadows SW - 1 Vote
5.) Bridlewood SW
6.) Silver springs - NW - 2 Votes
I would also like to play around 7PM or later, as the winter can take longer for people to get out and most of the smaller kids that might be playing will be off the ice. Ideally maybe an 8 o clock start. (Never on Flames game days)
Hopefully we can get some good interest, and I'm open to suggestions, ideas and concerns.
CP members of all different skill levels are welcome. I will begin a sign-up sheet, with a plan to have the first game in the next couple weeks (weather premitting)
Would play:
1.) J-bo09
2.) Burning years
3.) anyonebutedmonton
4.) HotHotHeat
5.) Cogent
6.) Kunkstyle
7.) AC
8.) WilsonFourTwo
9.) Cherrio (Signal hill)

would love to, but don't want to have to drive way out to the burbs for shinny.

Unfortunately didn't get a chance to make it to ball hockey, but I'd be interested in some shinny. Wouldn't be able to make it every week, but I'd like to make it out for a couple.
NW preferably.

Sounds good guys...Really this first sign-up is too see intrested players and location preferences. Once we get it decided, I will put up a weekly sign-up sheet.
If we do get tons of people wanting to play, I will open up a second night at maybe a different location to try and accomadate...but for now looking at filling up one game.

I'll play for sure. Location 3 or 4 would be my personal preference, but I'll likely come no matter where it is.
Keep in mind it will be trial by fire in terms of skating, as I haven't skated since I severed my ACL in junior high...

Do we have to pull out the strategy from Mighty Ducks 2? Setup a wall of cans? Just use the end boards to stop for awhile...you will remember in no time

I'd have to be a week-to-week decision (work's gonna be nuts until late-summer for sure), but I'm 100% interested. The ball hockey crowd was a lot of fun the couple times I made it.
Don't really care what rink. If I can make it, I'll go wherever.

I could play wherever. Spring Bank has great ice and it's usually not busy, but might be too far for some people.

Signal Hill gets crazy busy. I'd put my name out, but I can't really commit to making it out every game.
