Hence the "having a heart attack on every corner" thing. You never knew if a logging truck would come barrelling around the corner, and they flew down the road no matter what the conditions. Dealing with the hard pack/ice made it more exciting!

Awesome. I'm putting on slicks when I get home from work tonight.

I plan on leaving for work within 30 minutes of the first snowfall.

Seriously people who rely on stuff like ABS and Traction control scare me more than anything... Learn to Threshold brake and learn how to apply throttle and steering input to get where you want to go.

Driving in Calgary=Scary.
So, you don't drive the Redneck Corvette in the snow?

Pity...

Good Alberta weather ... I've just been outside on the NW edge of the city. It's sunny, calm and beautiful. Perfectly nice and enjoyable day.

Crazy that in a few hours it will be extremely miserable

2010 A4 Quattro + Finnish Gislaved NordFrost winter tires + locking front and rear diff = snow destroyer.

Dammit. Now I have to go put my winter tires on. Not what I had in mind with my evening.

The off-highway trucks on the coast are especially fun. The Hayes HDXs where I worked had a 16 foot wide bunk, so there's not much room for you.

It does get tiring to hear the expert 1/3 of the Calgary population whine/cry about the other 2/3.
