BSU has a slightly better argument than TCU, but yeah, they really haven't earned anything with the teams they've beaten this year either.

According to Sagarin's SOS rankings Boise's schedule ranks 72/120 and TCU's is 62/120.

He had no timeouts left. The penalty would've made it 2nd and 15 with 1:40ish left on the clock so Oregon could run at least 1:20+ of the clock off by just running the ball. By declining it, there was still 1:40 left, but Oregon could only run 40 seconds off after their 3rd down play.
Essentially he traded 10 yards for 40 seconds of clock.

That includes a massively overrated Utah team though. That team has no business being ranked, let alone the top 5 position it was in 2 weeks ago.

Yeah, but he all but guaranteed he wouldn't see the ball again, and declining allows the clock to run after that play anyways. Taking the penalty would have dramatically increased the chances of Cal at least getting the ball in their hands at some point.

True, although we should see an adjustment made after Utah's performance today. Boise's will probably take a hit too considering they played the Vandals.

Looks like Oregon has had it scare, I feel bad for whomever is next on that schedule.

Zona at Autzen coming off a bye week. I think a letdown will do wonders for the team right now and bring them back to earth a bit.

Who cares, I want either BSU or TCU in the title game. I don't wanna hear anyone complain about the "little guy will never get a shot" gig.

I wish we could play Oregon, Maybe this would force our AD to get fire Steve Addazio. We know Meyer doesn't have the balls to fire his friend.

If Oregon won out and Auburn lost putting one of these teams in the NC game i'd be pissed. It's really a no win situation at that point.
A Win? Who cares it was against a tremendously overrated team.
A Loss? You just look plain bad.

It made sense, there would not have been enough time on the clock to do anything if they let them run 3 more plays.

Sounds a lot like Texas earlier this year.
just shows how flawed the whole thing is to begin with.

yeah so? That can happen in a table too, a team can go 5-0 and then lose 6 in a row and missed the playoffs right? Doesn't make the system wrong.
Do you have to bring up your distaste for the rankings all the time? We know you don't like it. Teams go up and down the ladder throughout the season. Utah looked good when they were at #5, now they got smoked twice and will be unranked, what's the big deal? Everything works out at the end of the year.

So i cannot comment when it gets proven as flawed...because it bothers you?
Yeah...uhh, no.

Patently false.
And i have no problem with Utah getting dumped, they played their way out of anything significant, just like Texas. Valo was complaining they should have never been there to begin with, which i agree with but also applied it to Texas.....the system is horrible when you apply it to both schools and I cant see any way to defend that.
Pre-season polls...directly affect the end polls, even when the human programmed computer gets involved. The whole thing is just so goofy, especially when there are ways to actually settle the debate ON the field of play and not in board rooms and in some super secret computer formula that few truly know how it works.
This year is a perfect example of this...the SEC just isnt "all that" anymore. yet, people (and i suspect the computer) still give wins in the conference way more weight than others. Why? Because thats the way its always been? To use your own words...so what? Things change.
I truly believe that with the change to the scholarship rules, we are now seeing how parity is really working its way into CFB all across the country. There isn't a single "power conference" in the whole NCAA right now. The only ones that seem to deny this happening are the NCAA and conference fat cats who look only at $$$$. If that's what you believe should drive the decisions, so be it. If the players were pros I would tend to agree. However they aren't.

There is no way to settle 130 teams on the field. Come up with one please.
I am pro-playoff but I don't hate the current system either and definitely don't rail on it. Yes pre-season ranking do matter but teams have to go through 12-13 games undefeated and it all works itself at the end.
You just hate the system. Utah loses two games and you say the system is stupid. If Utah had won out and finished #3 you'd say they can't win the title and the system is stupid. So you're biased.. there's no other argument with you.
My solution would be split the FCS and make a better conference, the FCSDS (Football College Super Duper Series!) Do a total re-allignment, get the Dukes and Cheeseball States out of there. Reduce it to about 50-60 teams in 6 conferences and go nuts. Keep the Bowls, have an 8 team playoff (6 conference winners and 2 voted in) and make more money because every game every week will be worth something.

Huh? I dont care that Utah won or lost or anything else. They are obviously a team that shouldnt of been ranked where they were, much like Texas....thats the systems fault and has nothing to do with me. Sort of the whole point actually.

They couldn't of finished #3 without at least 2 teams ahead of them losing as well. regardless of that...its quite possible that 2 undefeated teams will not get a chance as it is. Now I dont know about you, but there is no way for me to know who would win and who wouldnt on the field without seeing them play each other. I have no idea how a bunch of voters and a computer can know either. I dont have a dog in this fight in any case, so any claim of "bias" is ridiculous. I would like to see the players decide who is best, not sure why so many have a problem with that.
'Right now', no one will convince me that Boise St. shouldn't be a shoe-in for the NC game. Of course I can say the same about Auburn and Oregon as well, TCU i am not sold on after the last two weeks. I believe that Auburn will lose to either or maybe both of Alabama and SC, so now what? One loss LSU should get in even though they cant win their own division nevermind their own conference?
There is going to be chaos at the end of it all by the looks of things, which I will sit back and watch the car wreck and laugh at those who continue to deny there is any problems and that a playoff is impossible...even though the governing body already has a playoff system for other teams. Its awesome entertainment.
