Break up the old monotony eh... Well, engaging in some sort of aesthetic pleasure normally cheers me up; wine, books, architecture, clothing. I've been re-learning my French the last few weeks by reading Tintin and Asterix comics (en francais). That's pretty fun. Films, I really like films. There's a great movie store downtown called Bird Dog Video that has basically got it all. There's lots to do, man. Maybe it's the relationship?

My wife's a nurse too... but I kinda like the space sometimes to be honest, I think it balances out quite nicely while some of my other friends feel like they're ALWAYS with the person.
Anyway my advice would be... travel. Travelling is awesome. It gives you something to look forward to, something new / unique / wicked awesome while it's happening and then gives you memories to look back upon. Either find a time when the wifey is booked up with work or take her with you but you should travel and re-charge the batteries.

Yeah, believe it or not, it's actually a pleasure to learn and understand a new language. You know, it's not like it makes me giggle and clap my hands, but it's just a slow project that I am slowly working through.

You must be at the "blame da bitches for everything" stage. It's the funnest one.
For me, travel can give me a kick in the butt. Not an all-inclusive resortorama, more like some (cheap) out of the way place where you don't see a lot of other tourists. The memories are nice afterward, the planning and anticipation make life more fun beforehand, and the shakeup from the everyday same-old, same-old is refreshing.

I'm relatively impressed, only one mention of 'hookers and blow' - so far that is.

Sign up for a sport at a recreational level. When I felt the same way, I played ball hockey through the Calgary Sport and Social Club. It was fun, and it gave me something to look forward to every week!

Last time I really felt like that I quit my job and went back to University in a different city. That sure switched things up a bit.
Travel was a good suggestion from someone earlier.
