I have a buddy or two who are heavy pot smokers. They also have a couple degrees. Being educated, or being smart doesn't mean you make the best life decisions.
Peoples life decisions are theirs to make and not for you to judge weather they are the best or worst. People learn from living and become better or worse people for it. It's life it's how people work. I fail to see how anyone's vises affect you in any way, shape or form. If people want to do cocaine, go for it. If people want to piss their health away smoking and drinking every day then cool, go for it. It's not my life and it's not my problem. As long as they aren't sitting on EI soaking up tax dollars (Or out driving putting others peoples lives in danger) while doing these things I really couldn't care.

If, after a long day of working and running around, I come home and feel like smoking a bowl and watching a movie, writing some stuff down, or playing some video games (Seriously how good is the new Fallout?) that's my choice. We are all just people and we are all just trying to get by the best way we know how.

You can think I'm an idiot all you want by the way. I'm sure I will find a way to get on with my life.

BTW...it is a 'bol' you smoke, not a bowl. Short for bolus.

Marijuana Smokers Face Rapid Lung Destruction -- As Much As 20 Years Ahead Of Tobacco Smokers...

Quote:
A condition often caused by exposure to toxic chemicals or long-term exposure to tobacco smoke, bullous lung disease (also known as bullae) is a condition where air trapped in the lungs causes obstruction to breathing and eventual destruction of the lungs.

At present, about 10% of young adults and 1% of the adult population smoke marijuana regularly. Researchers find that the mean age of marijuana-smoking patients with lung problems was 41, as opposed to the average age of 65 years for tobacco-smoking patients.

The study "Bullous Lung Disease due to Marijuana" also finds that the bullous lung disease can easily go undetected as patients suffering from the disease may show normal chest X-rays and lung functions. High-resolution CT scans revealed severe asymmetrical, variably sized bullae in the patients studied. However, chest X-rays and lung functions were normal in half of them.

Lead author Dr. Matthew Naughton says, "What is outstanding about this study is the relatively young ages of the lung disease patients, as well as the lack of abnormality on chest X-rays and lung functions in nearly half of the patients we tested."

He added, "Marijuana is inhaled as extremely hot fumes to the peak inspiration and held for as long as possible before slow exhalation. This predisposes to greater damage to the lungs and makes marijuana smokers are more prone to bullous disease as compared to cigarette smokers."

No it is a bowl. Because the bowl we pack the weed into on bong or pipe looks like a bowl so we call it a bowl.

Cool articles and all Dion..but how about there being no recorded deaths from Marijuana alone or there being no cases of marijuana only smokers getting lung cancer.

So smoking does not destroy lung tissue?

Wouldn't that be related to the amount of use, too, though? A tobacco smoker is inhaling, even for shorter amounts of time, far more often than most casual weed smokers. Does this only apply to heavy duty weed smokers? Or maybe just don't hold it in your chest as long since they say it has to do with how they "inhale," the same as someone who works in a workshop around lots of particles, not about the particular chemicals marijuana puts in your lungs themselves.

Good article. I have no doubts marijuana smoke is hazardous. About 3 weeks ago I bought the iolite vaporizer (no smoke) and have been really happy with it. Short of simply just ingesting marijuana I think it's the best option for anyone concerned about the health of their lungs.

It doesn't specifically say marijuana smoke is bad for you, however. It says inhaling deeply and holding basically any kind of particulate matter in your lungs is bad for you. If you inhaled tobacco the same as marijuana and held it inside, it'd probably be far worse for you.

Quote:
Patients who smoke marijuana inhale more and hold their breath four times longer than cigarette smokers. It is the breathing manoeuvres of marijuana smokers that serve to increase the concentration and pulmonary deposition of inhaled particulate matter – resulting in greater and more rapid lung destruction.

But what does that have to do with Dion's post? It is just a sidestep argument.

I take issue with the fact that some people say weed is not addictive. I've personally had 3 friends set their lives back at least a couple of years (one still is doing it) because of their addiction to marijuana.
