Unfortunately the answer is yes to all of these questions

Hang on... before you were saying that buying pot puts your job, family, etc etc in jeopardy.
Not at all when your line of contact is some young runabout who deals in small denominations. He probably makes peanuts and has no idea where the stuff comes from either.
You think some big time king pin is going to come after me for buying a gram of pot? What, I didn't pay the $10 price tag and he's going to send some goons after me? Hahahaha. No, sorry... you're mistaken.
I can actually wrap my head around Captain Crunch's point though. Basically one supports the other etc etc. If you hold yourself to strict standards where you don't want a penny of your money going to "questionable" characters, then yeah you want to avoid the whole thing.

I've yet to meet a dealer that would sell in $10 buds.
A small time dealer deals eights, quarters, an ounces and if you start fronting and not paying you better believe you're going to get some guys after you whether you're dealing with big time or small time dealers. Some guys don't take being ripped off so easily even if it is a hundred dollars.
When I was in high school a guy that everyone knew was a drug dealer showed up to our school kicked a kid in the face over $30. It's not as much about the money as it is about ripping him off.
Small time dealers are just as dumb, crazy, and violent as the bigger time dealers.

Yeah the link between buying pot from a small time dealer and putting your family/job at risk has not been shown at all in this thread yet. Was a questionable claim and still has not been even addressed by those who made it.

Already you're taking things out of context, the statement was " buying pot from a small time dealer could put your job/family in jeopardy". Someone who fronts (see: takes without paying) and then never pays is not "buying" anything, they are stealing and deserve whatever is coming to them.
Go walk into a family run convenience store, try and steal from them and see what happens to you, my guess is something very similar to what the "dealers" would do.
Anyone who is simply buying pot is in no danger of having dealer lackies track them down and beat them down.

I have to think that anytime you superheat a plant and inhale it into your lungs you are courting some serious lung problems (cancer?) over time.

Just becasue you haven't seen it doesnt mean it doesnt exist ($10 transaction). Anyways, we can go round and round, but I'd rather not.
Fact of the matter is, I'm a smoker and buy from "my source" once or twice a month for small amounts.
I've never had an incident, and neither has he.

First. I wasn't the one that said that buying pot puts your job, family, ect ect in jeopardy it was KTrain. I actually even said that I can't see how it would effect my job.
Second. I didn't said anything about a big time king pin going after anyone. I didn't say anything about goons. I said the illegal DRUG trade is dangerous, that's it. If you don't believe me then you should try hanging out with some hells angels (among other groups) and tell me that it's not a dangerous business. I know, your $10 of pot harms no one but what did it take to get to you?

You're right: even just hot air can be bad for you. Nobody here is saying "Pot is not bad for you" I don't think. I'm just posting something I thought was interesting about these 5 myths about cancer and gateway and whatever else.
But I do enjoy smoking it to relax, have a laugh, enhance a movie, get a little high with my friends... you know. The usual reasons.
I do have to admit I'm not the 185lb guy I used to be. I've probably got about 15 extra "munchie" pounds on me, but on my 6'1" frame it's not a big change.

Oops you are totally right, I mixed the two of you up, my bad. I'm sooo high right now. (hahah not right now actually)
Your point about how that $10 gets to the end user is correct though. I'd like to see it legalized and regulated for that very reason.

Ok well I'll use another example then.
You buy your bud and the dealer gets busted on the way home from dropping it off for you. The guy is a looney and assumed it was you who snitched him out and that it was a set up.
So many different things that COULD happen not saying it's likely to happen but it is very possible when you get involved in buying drugs.

I can tell you that never, EVER have I felt in danger or even that something was faintly wrong when I have bought. I get tiny quantities though. Probably an 8th (~2.5G) every two weeks.
|
In case you didn't already know...
The names an eighth, quarter, half etc all refer to how much of an ounce they are.
An ounce is 28g and there are 16oz in a lb.
3.5g is an eighth of an ounce, 7g is a quarter, 14g is a half. $30 for an eighth, $60 for a quarter, $90-120 for a quarter. $180-220 for an ounce. $600ish for a QP - quarter pound. I've never bought a pound so I have no idea how much that costs. Unless you're buying tuna can cush or something. Then it is like $10-20/g with no discounts for high volume unless it's like a lb or something.

Smoking (inhaling super heated air into your lungs) ANYTHING has adverse effects on your respiratory system. There is no denying that. Lung cancer? Who cares. Does long term marijuana smoking cause emphysema? ABSOLUTELY.
As someone who spent the first 12 years of his life fighting to breathe, I find smoking pretty freaking stupid.

He thinks they should legalize it partially, but if anyone does it now they are idiots and will be judged by "normal people"
