I think the NFL and NHL have made a mistake making these types of hits penalties.
It's too vague. You can't judge in a split second if a player is defenseless or not.
These hits should be legal and players should stop running/skating in the middle of the playing area, like in previous years.

Helmet to helmet contract is allowed in the NFL. Collie had secured the ball and become a runner. He's no longer a defenseless 'receiver'.

Are you blind? He doesn't lead with his head. Mikell hits Collie and it knocks him into Coleman's helmet as he's trying to pull back. Not to mention that it's legal because he wasn't defenseless at that point.

Awful result but a garbage call. You never want to see a guy down like this but to prevent that you gotta take all contact out of the game, which would never happen.

Great, just what we needed. Another reciever effing out for a long time. This is getting ridiculous. And that was a penalty but should have been a fumble. Clark, Gonzalez, Collie......wow. Blair White is going to have to pick it up big time.
