Looking at the polls, it has little chance of passing. Down anywhere from 11% to 16% in recent polls.

Prop 19 is in trouble too, although that's much more up in the air.

He is and I hope he disappears, but the Republican woman running against him is a lunatic, so the best outcome would be - Reid wins, promptly dies, and new election needs to take place.

That doesn't really matter.

To put it (very) simply......people are pissed off that what took Bush 8 years to destroy has taken Obama more than 18 months to fix.

Common sense has completely left that country, which is why (I'm sure) we'll see a big Republican win.....particularly amongst "Tea Party" candidates.

Obama's own fault - he should have let Hillary have the "hard" job and waited 4-8 years.

For all those who worry about the state of the United States based on this election, what's going on right now is in line with historical election trends. Bad economy and a Mid term election almost always means huge gains by the party not occupying the Presidency.

However, the tone of the campaign and the way money has been flowing is something to worry about.

The fact that Sarah Palin has some actual footing in a party tells you fata'd up US politics are.

I didn't see one single TV ad in the last couple months that told me what a candidate's platform was. It was all smear campaigns. Disgusting.

I'm just really interested to see how Linda McMahons's campaign is going to turn out considering that she spent 40 mil of her own money on it, and there have been some interesting back and forths in that one.

Poll analyzer Nate Silver at fivethirtyeight.com gives her a solid 0% chance of winning.

Too bad. She should have run her campaign like a WWE wrestler.

Come in with the promo

Let me tell you something American Public. You may look up and see a woman who looks like your Grandmather, but after years of being married to the genetic jackhammer, I have to say that I am the toughest DOB to ascend the hill. I'm going to dine on taxation and smash Liberal sentiment if you smell what the Senator is cooking.

There’s a proposition in California to legalize marijuana (possession and growing of small amounts for personal use).

This has potentially big implications here in BC, as the majority of BC Bud is grown for export, so the passage of this proposition could be a big hit to local organized crime.

I wonder how much of the budget for the “No” campaign was organized crime money?

The $50 an ounce levy is pretty optimistic.

Not a fan of hers, but her opponent, Dick Blumenthal doesn't seem like the best alternative either. This is the same guy who falsely claimed to have served in Vietnam (all while obtaining a least 5 deferments to prevent him from doing just that). I think that kind of says it all about his character.

(Btw, shameless plug, yours truly did those icons on the NYtimes.com election sections)

You guys are missing the biggest issue in America right now, it's not the economy, it's not marijuana legalization, it's not immigration, it's not even health care:

This is my favorite:

Quote:
Candidates need a lot of money if they want to be elected. On MSNBC’s "Morning Joe", Blumenthal said, “I have never taken PAC money and I have rejected all special interest money because I have stood strong and have taken legal action against many of those special interests.”

Though Blumenthal denied he took PAC money, the Federal Election Commission website said Blumenthal took more than $220,000 in PAC money.

Officials from Blumenthal’s campaign said he was referring to past elections.

Looks like Dems will control the Senate, Reps will control the House, and the Reps will gain 6 Governors.

The Reps will definatly take the House which I'm hoping is going to stop all the big spending of the current government.

My guess is the Dems will narrowly hang on to the Senate. The house is going to be a bloodbath. The biggest mid-term election loss for a sitting president is 71 seats; that record could fall tonight.

That president, for those interested? FDR. It's no fun presiding over a lousy economy.

Not a chance, they all want to get reelected and that takes pork and lots of it.
