I love how people make up automagical numbers when they talk about their commute.

The drive to and from the Okotoks/High River area to downtown is absolutley obscene anytime even remotely close to rush hour. Anyone that tells you different is a liar, straight up.

You also might want to talk to the 4 young enterprisng guys from Calgary who have been going up and down my street rebuilding people's decks. They are making a very good income in High River.
That's because of all the money many people in Okotoks get from high paying Calgary jobs. Take away those jobs and those services will be history. Where do you think the money comes from that pays for those guys building decks? It isn't from working at Wal-Mart and Home Depot!

I think it's a total misconception that people automatically assume small towns equals no crime and friendly atmosphere. I lived in Redcliff for the first 10 years of my life, and going back and visiting, I was pretty shocked at how a lot of my elementary friends turned out. Drug use, teen pregnancy, and underage drinking is a problem down there. People just don't have much else to do.

And driving through there, people gave me weird looks. It's like they've never seen an Asian person before. I was expecting to see confederate flags hanging out of their pick up trucks.

On another note, the Calgary Transit website is a total piece of junk. I can write a better web app while totally drunk and blindfolded.

Guess we'll agree to disagree on this subject.

Property taxes are cheaper - i'll give you that. The Villa that I live in is worth close to $350,000.... Not much land for that price

Where you got that from I have no idea. Haven't heard that yet from anyone. Keep dreaming

Yeah because all the people in Okotoks work at Wal-Mart and Home Depot.

They all come to Calgary for their lawyers, doctors, and accountants right?

Or do Calgarians go to Okotoks to have that done? your argument is flawed and you're the one being ignorant (as usual) and rude (as usual)

Do you have a point I can refute or are you just saying a lot of gibberish and name calling without anything to back it up?

name calling? I never called you any names...I leave that to you, you have mastered it.

I did have a point and it was that not everyone in Okotoks works at Wal-mart and Home Depot and do fine without Calgarians.

People should pay for the convenience to park and ride imo. They could always walk or take the bus to the LRT station.
Starts to look like a little bit of a bunk choice when its -20 to -30 out. In Vancouver the feeder bus systems to the Skytrain seem to come more often and it gets less cold there.

Who wants to stand outside for 20 minutes waiting for a bus or walk to the train station when its -20? We might if they were guaranteed to come often but they aren't.

Why do you think house prices according to Dion are the same as those in Calgary? Why do you think it is rapidly growing? Here's a hint, it's not because of a couple doctors and few lawyers.

If it wasn't for Calgary, Okotoks would be like any other small town in the middle of nowhere Alberta. It wouldn't be booming.

So... um... about this park and ride fee.

Assuming the fee remains, I do wish that the free evening parking would begin at 4. The demand at that point in the day is minimal as the lots are in the process of clearing out. I can even park downtown for $2 after 4 at a couple of parkades, and it is free after 4 at the Core shopping place now.
