I'm sure you're an expert in that area.

As someone who has lived in India for 3+ years, I can say with confidence that your statement is incorrect, as is your other post about how 'disgusting' everything else is over there. It's no different then any other society (like North America) where "the people with money and education and what i find disgusting about them is the way they treat others". The fact is, India is on the path to becoming an economic superpower in a relatively short period of time. Finally TONS of money is pouring into areas that needed it years ago. Yes it will take time. But better late then never.

Also, Indian food is awesome. If you really were in fact in India, I'm willing to bet that you went into that country with an already negative image in your head about what to expect, and that you never really took in the time to appreciate what was before you.

As I said I have been to plenty of countries and many of them that consistently rank low on the UN and other organizations rankings.

It is much worse than the worst countries that I have been and as I said I have no doubts that it is the worst.

Can't stand it at all. Not any dish that I have had is close to edible in my view.

It is plenty different from North America as people aren't just tossed to the side because they belong in a different 'caste" over here. It may be like NA was 100-200 years ago, but nowhere close to NA today.

Actually was excited to go because from what I had heard it would be a better experience than some of the other countries I had been. No negative view going in at all.

If there was something to appreciate I would have loved to have found it but there just wasn't anything decent there at all.

Ever been to the downtown east side in Vancouver?

Obviously there are social issues galore in India but to just paint the entire country as a giant cesspool with no redeeming qualities is ignorant and stupid. But we've generally come to expect nothing more from your posts. If you are the best of what North American society has to offer, I'd say the west has some evolving left to do as well.

I have a theory that the more uncomfortable or awkward a travel experience is at the time, the better the story you will have for the rest of your life. I can't wait to go to India for this reason. All of my best travel stories are of this nature and anyone I know that has spent time in India has some amazing stories.

You are comparing India to the worst part of our country? Seems fitting, although East Hastings is paradise compared to India and the poor their are treated like kings compared to their Indian counterparts.

He is basing his views on his experiences in dealing with people from East India. He isn't saying that they look dirty or they must be dirty because they are from another country, he is basing it on his experiences.

You may not like the conclusions that he has come to but it doesn't seem to be overly racist or something that needs to be deleted by the mods. It is just his view of what he has experienced.

No genius, I'm saying there are crappy parts of this country just as there are crappy parts of that country. I'm sorry you had a bad time in India but perhaps it was more due to your general ignorance than it was to the entire country being some kind of human disaster zone. I've been there too, I've seen the good, and I've seen the bad. But to come on here and speak in absolutes about an entire country, and therefore the people that live there, is ignorant.

Well his experiences are obviously very, very limited. Education is a good thing. I highly suggest that you and Mirajj attempt to get one at some point.

Some of the posts in this thread are bordering on outright racism.

Anyways, having been to only one developing country and realizing that there are good and awful parts of it, I'd be willing to visit India to see what it's like. It's not, however, exactly on my destination list.

Sounds like your full of crap and just took this opportunity to be racist.
Thing is, I do talk to them. The only issue I have with them (other than their belief that someone else is supposed to clean up after them) is that most eat with their mouths open, allowing food to fall out. Talking to them doesn't do much, as most are from the higher caste system (which I admit I don't understand much) are aren't impressed with the fact that they have to work and are expected (but don't) clean up after themselves in the first place.

Also, I don't "invite" them anywhere, I WORK with them, and there are assigned break times.

Good for you. Which is why I said "IF the people I see?deal with are in the majority (and the pics at the start of the thread seem to indicate so) then it is no surprise to me."

Than I am going to assume you haven't eaten very much Indian food. It has probably the widest assortment of different cuisines in the world, and you can most assuredly find SOMETHING you like. Don't like South Indian? Try Mughlai. Not big into fish, don't eat Bengali, but you'll probably love Punjabi Tandoor. Honesty, there's something wrong in the head of people that don't like chicken tikka.

Man, I have the exact same complaints as you! Only difference is the guy I have the problem with that eats with his mouth open, doesn't clean up after himself, and doesn't want to work is white. Stupid friends . . .

Considering that I have been to many developing countries and lived in one of the worst for multiple years without the same feelings my guess is that I just don't like India rather than any sort of ignorance.

People have different likes, dislikes so I am not sure why it is so hard for you to believe that i don't like India and hated my time over there.

Could be, although while there I did have to eat Indian food most of the time so it isn't like I went out only once or twice. I have been to many Indian resturants and buffets in different countries as well so I think that I have had a wide assortment but certainly makes sense that I haven't had it all.

Don't think that I have had Chicken tikka but who knows as I ate a lot of things I did not know what it was.
