Great now Dallas Clark is out indefinitely with a hand injury. Gonzalez is already out, Addai is out, Garcon came out of the last game. Wayne and Collie are the only regulars not hurt in terms of options for Manning. Hopefully the bye week this week will fully heal Gonzalez, Addai and Garcon.

Channing Crowder of the Dolphins' comments on the helmet to helmet fines. Not surprised he got a lot of concussions in high school. He sounds pretty dumb.

I can't stand crowder, his IQ must be horrid. The faster we find a new MLB the better we will be. He's also not that good.

The thing is he's actually right though. Helmets aren't for protection anymore, they are weapons. Guys who blow guys up with big hits typically drive the crown of their helmet through their opponent. Coincidentally, guys who come up as big hitters get scholarships, then get drafted, and then get rich. The NFL has cultivated a game where guys who hit like that are sought after commodities, and now they're going to pretend like they're a scourge on the sport because they've finally been pressured into giving a fata about concussions?

So now Collie had surgery today too......WOW. This is ridiculous. Clark and Collie are out for awhile, Addai probably gone a few weeks still.

Wayne, Garcon, Tamme/Eldridge, Hart will be Manning's "weapons" vs Houston.

So according to a tweet from Vikings punter Chris Kluwe the NFL video on what is now considered a legal hit contains this gem:

"You can't lead with your helmet, forearm, or shoulder."

This lead Kluwe to the only natural conclusion, karate kicks it is.

Seriously, the NFL has become such a joke it's stopped being funny. They pretend like they give damn, go over the top with everything, threaten all sorts of fines etc. when the whole issue has been brought about by their cultivation of the game. I like what Goodell has done to limit D-bag behavior, but his impact on the on field product is getting to the point where I'm getting turned off of the NFL. Good thing that these 'new rules' will mysteriously stop being enforced once the media moves on to the new topic of the day.

Next on the NFL police blotter: Kenny Britt

No charges have been filed after Britt's involvement in a club altercation, but it sounds like some could be on the way. The police report indicates Britt repeatedly punched Harold Pointer, 26, after Pointer got into a fight with Bradford Miser, 29.

He had just become a starter since Justin Gage was injured and was starting to produce in that role.

Just noticed the quirkiest stat i have seen in a while.

The chargers are #1 on offense and #1 on defense as far as yards gained and yards surrendered.

They are 2-4 in the standings. Just shows how under appreciated special teams are in the NFL lexicon. Invaluable to be good at them.

Well as gaudy as Phillip Rivers numbers are right now, he's simply not winning games for his team. In 3 of those 4 Chargers losses, he's had the ball in his hands in the final two minutes with a chance to either tie or win the game and hasn't got it done. Against KC he turned it over on 4th down twice in the final three minutes. He tossed an INT in the red zone against Seattle when they lost that game in the final seconds, and his fumble that was returned for a TD agaisnt the Raiders made a 28-27 game 35-27, and he wasn't able to get them down the field with about two mintues left to go for the tie.

The Special teams have been horrendus, but that team is failing miserably in clutch situations. The defence isn't keeping opponents to field goals on short fields, and the offence isn't getting points at the end of the game when they need them.

The #Ravens have activated Ed Reed and Brendon Ayanbadejo from the PUP list. They sent T Jared Gaither to IR and released OLB/DE Edgar Jones

Would have been nice to have them last week. I didn't think they would play Reed until after the bye week, so this is a pleasant surprise.

The NFL network is having a documentary of the top 100 NFL players of all time. They started at #100 and so far have got to #21.

Some solid QB's went from 21-30. Tom Brady was #21, John Elway #23, Dan Marino #25. Should be interesting to see the top 20 NFL players of all time.

It's a great series, and I've been in agreement with much of their rankings so far.

With active players, I think they should have erred on the conservative side. Having Brady at #21 at such a young age is a bit of a slap in the face to Elway and Marino in my mind. Same goes for Manning, who will no doubt be amont the top 20.

I thought ranking Deion Sanders ahead of Rod Woodson was a travesty.

It was great to see players like John Hannah and Merlin Olsen be recognized way up the list. Guys like that get forgotten too often.

I'm not sure how Ray Lewis doesn't make that list. Has there been a more dominant MLB in the last 20 years?

They still haven't released the top 20 and in their preview for next week's 11-20, there was a small clip of Brett Favre and Ray Lewis.

Hard for me to fathom 20 guys better than Brady or Elway actually....IMO only they are both top 10 of all time. I mean really...what havent either of them accomplished in their careers that seem to matter the most? Marino has that big empty spot of no championships, which is not a thing i define greatness as at all but most do. But the other 2? What else can be said, especially with Brady?

And Brady is young? he is 33. he is already part of the alltime greats regardless of age...no?

No doubt they are great players but

Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Jim Brown, Lawrence Taylor, Walter Payton, Barry Sanders, Otto Graham, Johnny Unitas, Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, Dick Butkus, Ray Lewis.....etc. Not easy to say they were better then those guys.

I think Elway and Brady were better than Manning. Manning's always been a terrific regular season performer but he should have way more rings by now to be mentioned with those two.

I respectfully disagree with you. There is a reason Peyton has won a record 4 NFL MVP awards (and is well on his way to winning a 5th). There is nobody as valuable to his team then Peyton Manning. The year Brady got injured in the first game of the year, Cassel was the QB and led NE to an 11-5 record. Take Manning off Indianapolis and they would be lucky to win 4 games. Both the guys you mentioned were fantastic QB's and would be in my top 20 but Peyton Manning thinks the game like not too many people have IMO. Of course championships matter as well and that is why Joe Montana will be the highest rated QB because he was solid and won 4 championships. Brady won the 3 rings in those 4 years and for that showed he is a great performer. I respect that guy a lot. Statistically though, he isn't in the top 20 in most major categories in his career.

Brett Favre only won 1 Superbowl but will be ahead of both Elway and Brady as well.

In November 2009, they polled every single Hall of Fame QB in terms of the Manning vs Brady debate. It was 13.5 to 2.5:

What? I don't think that's accurate at all. He's had two hall of fame wide receivers most of his career, a possible HOF RB in edge, a HOF TE in Clark and most years a pretty good defense.

Elway took Denver to 3 Super Bowls (and lost) with NOBODY on his team. I love those nobodies to the core of my soul, but in the grand scheme Mark Jackson, Vance Johnson, Sammy Winder etc were nobodies.

No player in NFL history did more with less than John Elway.

As far as the rankings, Tranny, I'm not disputing the ranking really, I just think the story should be written before they are included. I think Brady and Manning are in the top 5 QB's ever for sure.
