Anyone else get sucked in to buying the "new" Soundgarden album. Here I thought I was buying a brand new SG album, I guess I should read the thing before purchasing next time.

Don't feel bad. It was a shameless $ grab by the record company.

I don't blame you, all you ever hear about it in ads and promotions is "New Soundgarden Album". False advertising.

I knew it wasn't new material, but I was hoping for more unreleased stuff. disappointing for sure.

I didn't even buy it. I wouldn't mind having the vinyl edition with the DVDs, but I can't justify it.

If they release a new record, though, I will buy it on release day completely blind. No reservations there.

Not what I expected - sounds like a Thom Yorke solo album.

Not sure yet. It was quite bracing on the first listen.

he did, apparently, sing a little on the unreleased track (they remastered it some) and was apparently able to hit all the old notes.

Record companies have been doing this crap for years. Aerosmith and Ozzy have about a dozen greatest hits or live compilations. Anything 20+ years old has been "remastered" and re-released again.

Bryan Ferry, Olympia:

http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/14782-olympia/

There was a point at which Olympia was intended to be a new Roxy Music album. It would have been the band's first since 1982's Avalon, and there even seems to be a sly nod to that two-decade gap on album opener "You Can Dance", which opens with a brief musical passage that is pretty much a note-for-note reference to Avalon's "True to Life". Somewhere in the process, though, this became another Bryan Ferry solo album, featuring original Roxy Music members Andy Mackay, Phil Manzanera, and Brian Eno, and Ferry brought in a raft of collaborators, some old, some new, to round out the record, his first to feature original songs since 2002's Frantic.

Still, it's a good album, and without the pressure of making it under the Roxy Music name, Ferry has made a confident and remarkably fresh-sounding record simply by doing what he's done best for over three decades.

Warpaint, The Fool:

http://www.metacritic.com/music/the-fool

The LA-based indie band's album continues its excursion into experimental rock infused with psychedelic soundscapes and dreamy, melodic vocals.

Hey guys, as most of you know by know (at least the regulars) I am in a band called Heavy Jack and we have one album released to date which I posted about in this thread a while back. If you don't know yet you can find our first album Multiply for free download via our website www.heavyjack.com

Recently we have built our own mini studio and have started the rigorous task of self producing, engineering and recording material using cover songs as practice and now we are getting ready to start recording original material. The first complete recording is a cover of Kansas - Carry On Wayward Son and we are looking for feedback

http://heavyjack.com/carryonwaywardson.mp3

Recorded with Logic 9 Express, Drumagog, and Pod Farm 2.0

Recorded track in 9 hours and spent about 8 hours of mixing time on it - it was recorded for the closing credits of a documentary that is currently in production. As such time was a priority and we used a rearranged midi drum track with drumagog to get the drum sound and Pod Farm 2.0 to alleviate the process of recording live amps to build tone.

Enjoy everyone!!!
