Hello again CPHL GM’s, I wanted to provide you with an update on what has been happening in the CPHL.
This is what I am hearing.
Hurricanes: GM Doug in Carolina is looking to make a BIG splash. Big names that might be moved are Carter, Richards and Booth. Carter and Richards are getting the most attention and one or maybe even both will be traded. Doug is willing to downgrade which has most GM’s all excited. It looks like Carter
Wild: Wolski has finally left town. I reported last week it was coming and last night the wild and flyers hooked up for a trade. Grant still wants to trade a dman for a forward so expect Coburn to be the odd man out. We hear that the Jackets, Oilers and Caps are very interested.
Sens: GM Radically red is on the hot seat in Ottawa and is under intense pressure to get his team winning. We hear that there are some BIG changes coming with a lot of names being thrown around. Hemsky is upset with his playing time and wants out of town ASAP but as of yet, the GM has not found him a new home. Teams with interest: None.
Rangers: GM Flambers is still looking to tweak his roster but has some good chemistry going. Look for him to make some lateral moves as he doesn’t have a lot of wiggle room under the cap. Potential trading partners: Bruns, Canes, Panthers.
Kings: All we’ve heard for a week now is how the Kings have so many injuries. Too much complaining by the GM is making his players wonder who exactly they are playing for. The Sedins had a good chat while riding their ponies last weekend and both agree that a change of scenery might be nice. Potential destinations for the sisters: Old Macdonald’s farm.
Predators: The GM in Nashville has been active. It looks like he wants to win some hockey games this year. Look for him to continue tweaking his roster while keeping a good core of youngsters just in case his team poops the bed.
Jackets: Niittymaki got his first win of the season this week so GM Penney has more confidence now that he can win. He is still available but there is no rush to get him moved right now. Oshie continues to get a ton of attention but Penney is pretty content to keep him unless someone is willing to overpay. GM Penney doesn’t like to trade unless he wins the deal. Interested teams: Everyone.
Devils: Interest is declining in Taylor Hall. His below average start to his NHL career and seemingly ‘me not we’ attitude have some turned off. Penguins and Flyers are still interested but those teams are looking for upgrades rather than prospects at the moment. Look for the Hurricanes to show some interest in Hall.
Oilers: The Oilers have been horrible. GM Cheese is not known to be a patient man so we expect more changes to come. Thornton is just not getting the job done there. After a 0-3 start, we expect a complete overhaul could be in the works. Has Cheese lost his touch or is he still trying to find team chemistry with who he has. Something has to be done in Edmonton because Cheese has a reputation to live up to. The Oilers have been talking to the Sabres, Hurricanes, Flyers, Avalanche and Jackets.
Sharks: The Sharks are trying to get some GM favorites like Phaneuf and Kessel. He has the goods to nab them, the question is, will he? With Heatley on the block, expect him to be moved this week and don’t be surprised if he lands Kessel or Phaneuf.
Penguins: GM Goffie has forgotten how to trade. But with his start to the season who can blame him. GM Goffie has always iced a solid team that disappointed in the regular season. Could this be his year? If so, expect nothing to happen as he sits and waits for the points to rack up.
Blues: GM Punk thinks he can challenge for the conference title with his start to the season and is currently trying to upgrade his roster. Teams have been inquiring about some of his players but Punk is content to see how his current team will perform. Ian White has been struggling so if anyone is going to get traded it will be him. There is interest out there but we hear the asking price is just too steep. Potential trading partners: Kings, Ducks and Wild.
I was bang on with some of the rumors last week, especially the Wolski one. I will once again show you I have an inside scoop on what's happening in the CPHL.
Thanks for reading.
