I was interested in the Macbook Air, but three little words have almost killed my interest: Core 2 Duo. Whhhy the outdated processor?

But 30 days of standby? My goodness, you practically never need to turn it off.

$999 USD to start. Steep as usual. Still tempting in a way, but I'm really concerned about that processor.

I hope the Air’s have upgradable RAM. That’s shameful if you can only get 2 gigs of RAM

Facetime for OS X is up. You set it up with an email address, much like you would on an iPod Touch. i have tested it with my iPhone and my Mac, works flawlessly (different Wifi networks)

I think it looks pretty cool. I know the Mac App Store is going to make some people afraid of a closed system, but it's just an optional way of getting apps for your Mac. It's not the only way; it is still a desktop OS afterall (just with a few extra layers added). The App Store will make it easier to find apps and keep them updated, but (most importantly) it will re-invigorate the Mac desktop app market. This is clearly a win.

I really love the Mission Control stuff. Expose is already a huge part of how I use a Mac, this will just make it even better.

Launch Pad is cool. It will require a trackpad in order to really get the full iOS effect, but it's pretty neat. I'm still not sure if I would deviate from using Spotlight to launch everything... I guess I'll have to see it in action. I'm not a fan of how the open folders look, though.

Full-screen apps will be awesome. I mean, a lot of apps already have a full-screen mode built into them... but making it a simple function of the OS itself is very nice. Combining this with multi-touch gestures, and I can see switching in and out of full-screen to be really handy.

The 2GB to 4GB Ram upgrade is 90$ through Apple (student pricing) for the MBA, 100$ regular.

Also, they added a 2.8GHz i7 option to the 15" and 17" MacBook Pros (quietly).

Launch Pad is kind of lame to me, a big multi-paged grid of icons... really?

My grandma who has icons for all her programs right on her desktop was the leader in UI design all along!

I'll stick with Launchy.

FaceTime really needs to be released for PC. I won't be leaving Skype anytime soon I guess. My family doesn't have a Mac and won't be getting one anytime soon. Also, the lack of a chat feature makes it inferior to Skype.

Macbook Air looks nice but I still prefer the Macbook Pros. Call me old fashioned but I still like a CD/DVD drive and other outputs for presentations.

It would be nice if FaceTime was just a library that could be access from Skype. I'll be sticking with Skype as well.

Yeah. Well, from initial testing, you set up a email address, and regardless of if the app is open or not when someone dials your email through facetime it will Launch the facetime app with a Accept/Reject for the call. Kind of cool. Skype on iphone doesnt have video chat yet, and with a jailbroken iphone you can use facetime over 3g!

all good improvements, and it's a step forward, but kind of underwhelming.

no "one more thing..." moment

OK, that part's pretty cool. So even on the Mac, if someone sends you a FaceTime request, it will come up regardless if iChat is open or not?

I gave it a try too. FaceTime is definitely cool. I would have loved to see it more integrated with iChat though. It could be for Lion I guess.

Don't keep your iPhone too close to your Mac when you're testing it. The feedback is brutal.
