His name is Richard Pootmans. Some of his signs in the area in Ward 6 were vandalized and changed to HARD POO MAN!

I think it helped him in the end!

As of now, around 330 000 votes. Was the poster who suggested 140 000 out to lunch, or was this a banner year for total turnout?

It was listed as 140,000 by 4pm. So that was out there, just not as a final.

That was me. I saw a stat somewhere that said 140 000, but that was the turnout before 4pm, not the projected total.

It's still a huge turnout though.

That's cool and all, but screw you Globe and Mail.
I'm damn proud this city didn't make religion a part of the election. It was a progressive race and the progressive won.

Well I'm happy. I surprised myself and voted Nenshi today. I didn't think I was going to but ultimately he is the one guy that has a chance to make this a great city. Others may have been safer choices - but hey - why not go for greatness.
 Exciting times for our city.

the National Post has a nice tongue in cheek story alsoWhen did Calgary and Toronto switch personalities?

		| Holy chinook?!? The “it” candidate in the Calgary election went to Harvard, ran a nonprofit, and blogs about the best ways to limit urban sprawl. Rosedale parents are going to have a hard time using that to turn their children against Calgary and scare them into voting Liberal.
Especially given what’s been going on in Toronto, where the front runner wants to limit immigration, says “oriental people work like dogs“, and has a record of dubious behaviour that would make Ralph Klein blush.
I mean, seriously. Take a look at these two pictures and tell me which one of these guys looks like he should be mayor of Toronto and which one looks like he should be mayor of Calgary:
