Nenshi against McIver one on one would have been one hell of a race.

Tonight is a win in more ways than one:
 - Nenshi is mayor

 - McIver and Connelly not only lost the mayor's race, but they are off council altogether. Huge addition by subtraction.

 Less good:

 - Peter Demong looks like he will win Ward 14. Scary, scary individual.

 - None of the CP insiders are winning. Tough losses Victor and Jane.

For those of you that have participated in these election threads and have continued to support McIver (or other candidates, but him in particular) amidst what obviously became more and more of a Nenshi love-in: my kudos. Burn_this_city and kirant come immediately to mind. It's not easy to stand behind an unpopular opinion. Thanks for helping to keep these threads relatively civil. I hope you grow to like Nenshi as mayor.

For those who ran for office (some of whom actively participate here), I commend you. It takes a lot of effort and a lot of guts and I really respect that even if we may disagree on some things.

I said it over on SSP (where I've been a member much longer) but the community here at Calpuck has really made this an exciting race. I'm glad to have shared in the ride with you all!
