The questions seemed harsh but fair.
I have no idea who this guy is and what else may be at play. I've only seen his interview with Nenshi and Higgins. That said, he attacked both of their platforms fairly harshly. Nenshi is running on issues and providing details about what he plans on doing. Higgins hasn't released much for platform at all for a majority of this run and has been largely running on her personality and name recognition alone. Because of this, one interview seemed more harsh than the other.
It may seem a bit brutal but a lot of this could have been avoided by her being clear about what she was trying to achieve by running and actually standing for something.
It would be far more unfair (but less jerkish looking) to ask tough questions to one candidate because they've released very detailed policy and then turn around and lob softball questions to Barb cause she has next to no policy to grill her on.

I can see where you are coming from...but Obama's campaign was largely based on emotions and short on tremendous detail. Nenshi couldn't be more detailed about what he will do and how he will do it. If you talk to him, he will tell you that everything won't change overnight and is very upfront about the uphill battle that he faces.

Nobody is arguing that there shouldn't be tough questions asked. But to me this guy was asking hammering her on her smarts, he basically through his questions was calling her a moron.
He wasn't interested in her platform (not that she has one), nor anything, he wanted to land punches.
To me this is a group that probably had more Nenshi supporters then anything else, and it smacks of a bit of a ambush. And they got the bonanza.
To me it was a pretty unprofessional performance by the interviewer, and since this was Artsvote's events, they have to accept some responsibility for his act.

Wasn't this interview just on BT on City TV? not at a event organized by Artsvotes?

No doubt there may be some slant based on the group that's apparently behind the interviews. I don't see as much of a slant as some are seeing though.
He's there to attack all the candidates' platforms and ask them tough questions about their platforms. If one candidate's platform is only their name recognition and their personality then guess what gets attacked?
In doing so he comes off as a huge a-hole - not going to argue against that - but there wasn't much to work with in that interview compared with the other candidates.

Except it wasn't an artsvote event, it was a BT event. BT has been contacting different groups to participate in these 'segments'. Some candidates got students from Sait, others got immigrant groups. Barb got artsvote. She's a big backer of the arts so I wouldn't necessarily jump to any conclusions about her support level amongst that group.

It was on Breakfast Television. As I understand it, they've been interviewing one candidate per day for the last couple of weeks: First is a fluff segment with the female host (sorry, don't know her name, I don't watch morning tv, or CityTV, so I'm only going on what's posted on their website); then it's a Q&A with a local group of some sort (Nenshi faced students from the U of C); then finally is the "Hot Seat" segment with the Crotchety Old Man.

I was at the ArtsVote Mayor forum earlier in the year and Nenshi had the most support but there was still alot of support from the crowd for Barb as she does have an arts background... This would hurt that relationship and a they are a very vocal group of people.

Seemed to be cheering on Barb - till she barked at them after the interview.

I thought it was hilarious and kind of sexist he started the questions by asking if she paced around her kitchen for a month deciding.

Mike Blanchard on Calgary today just called out Barb Higgins for declining to participate in the 'Final 3' debate.
McIver and Nenshi both in, but Higgins wanted all 15 candidates or just her versus McIver.

Went down to city hall today to do my civic duty and noticed some tard in the line bothering the seeing eye dog infront of him. The dog pester was none other than our friend Bob.
I had to walk by Bob to get in the voting line, so I told him it wasn't too late to join the purple revolution. He retorted with a not likely and I followed with a you're just wasting your vote.

Wonder why she just wanted to face off against just McIver. Doesn't make any sense to me considering the 3 way split going on in the polls.

Then they should schedule it with just McIver and Nenshi and see how long it takes before she agrees to participate.

Agree 100%. If you schedule the event, she WILL show up. She'd look awful otherwise.
