I don't know about goal, but he is about the same age as the other contenders to draw in for Pardy...

So apparently Higgins said to the ArtsVote crew, "Who in your cornflakes this morning?" But I thought their questions were reasonable, not even all that tough, and she didn't answer a single one of them without veering off-topic.

McCourt is terrible, I watched him at the SAIT Heart Atrium Mayoral Forum and he drove me up a wall.

EDIT: djkelly
I understand CTV is interviewing Higgins this aft about her outburst to @ArtsVoteYYC volunteers. I hope there'll be an apology. #yycvote

At this moment in the Calgary Herald poll:

Naheed Nenshi - 44.58%
Barb Higgins - 26.84%
Rick McIver - 19.78%

The one thing which I find disappointing is that it does not show the number of total people who have voted.

I'm still a bit confused... how did the artvote thing go down? Was there a question period before, then the interview on BT, and then finally the Romulan strike down with said qoute of "who your cornflakes?"

McCourt being abrasive and sometimes nasty is his trademark, she should have been prepared, and should not have taken it so personally. Not mayoral material!

What she should have done was stood up in the middle of the interview and said "Who the frack gives two craps about artsvote and your agenda, call me when you return to reality." Then she should have kicked the guy in the junk, flashed two fingers at the camera and walked out. She would have gotten my vote.

Exactly.

Before McCourt's interview Artsvote asked Barb a series of questions. Stuff like, "Do you support Electronica Music" and "What is your take on Graffiti Art". (I'm also paraphrasing they were far more sophistimacated than that) Not really difficult questions, but ones that that she really didn't have answer for or when she did they weren't answers that would win her votes in the Art community.

Then we all saw the footage of the McCourt interview and when she stormed off and slammed her papers infront of the camera.

Apparently at that point she walked over to the Artsvote panel, who were waiting to ask her more questions and converse with her. At that point she asked them if anyone had added some extra tasty sprinkles to their cornflakes and start to berate them. Saying they weren't nice people and should treat people better.

There is a 5 minute question period where they ask Higgins questions on-air, then McCourt's 5 minute segment, and then once off-air, she was supposed to answer more of their questions directly (as all the other candidates have done).

Those were pretty pointed questions. I thought she handled it fairly well. At least she didnt sacrifice her morals and throw the old campaign manager under the bus. I do agree that he was coming in with an obvious bias.

That's what I don't understand. Everyone has an issue with the interview with McCourt - the real PR issue is what happened AFTER the interview.

I found Higgin's composure *during* the interview to be admirable. She defended her people and challenged McCourt's assertion he was a "screw up".

"I can see I hurt you with that question"... what an idiot.

What she did after to the Arts vote people was uncalled for though. Seems her skin is a wee bit thin for politics.

I'm not liking barb what-so-ever but that guy was a dick, and obviously had a bias.

I can't imagine how awkward that might have been for Tara to come in as that interview ended. I think you could have cut the tension with a knife.

Ya, that didn't look fun at all for her to come in there! I didn't vote for Barb, but I don't think that interview made her look bad at all. She handled his bad questions really well. Clearly she was a little PO'd, but rightly so.
