not to take away from this amazing story - and perhaps i missed this being covered off, but....
to me these guys look amazingly well kept for being without a shower for two months - you'd think some of them would have some pretty good beards going, and you'd think they'd be all sweaty and dirty......
somewhat humourous about the wife and the g/f waiting on the surface......

they have had water, food and hygenic supplies all along. (since being found anyhow)
The story of hwere they were trapped is almost as amazing as being trapped itself. They had access to over 2KM worth of tunnels and levels. They had a workout area where a few of these guys had to get busy in order to lose weight so they could fit in the recuse capsule. they had 3 different shifts 24 hours a day helping the guys up top as they bored out the hole. They even had a desiganted smoking area where the smokers were rationed 11 cigarettes each a day!!
Not optimum conditions, but they actually had an area to exist in.

Only one miner left, although I believe there are 5 rescue workers still down there. Still, the rescue has seemingly gone unbelievably well, quicker than quite a few people had estimated.
What an awesome story.

The area was really big. One of the guys down there wasn't even a miner, he was a driver! The mine is big enough for a truck to drive supplies back and forth!

Such a wonderful story, everyone is beaming there!
Those guys will be brothers forever after creating a mini-community down there.
I think even the rescue workers had a fun time the 24 hours they were down there.
The last rescue worker is going to come up soon, I guess he'll have to take all the cameras and everything up.
Or are they going to leave all the stuff down there forever?

I really don't understand why this got so much publicity...apparently 1 BILLION people watched the 33rd person being rescued.
My dad has been watching the rescue efforts for hours and hours. I understand it's a great story but at this magnitude? I don't think so.
And I know my opinion isn't going to be popular but it has been overblown IMO.

Exactly. One reporter compared it to the moon landing, and I think I'd have to agree. It's such a massive undertaking to drill that deep into the ground and to get everyone out alive is amazing.

True...I guess I'm just amazed on how big of a deal this is to people. Who would of thought the world would care so much for a bunch of miners.

Darling, you're back: Angelica Araya with husband Osman, the sixth miner to arrive on the surface
A daughter's tears: Roxana Gomez watches the operation from Camp Hope as her father Mario is the fifth man to be rescued
A father's thanks: Mario Gomez, at 59 the oldest miner, kneels to salute his saviours
