Pens name captains!

There were certainly no shortage of candidates for this years captaincy in Pittsburgh this year. There are 4 current NHL captains on the Pens roster(Getzlaf, Gionta, Crosby, Ovechkin)as well as 4 NHL alternates(Gaustad, Gorges, Markov, Orpik).

It was a tough choice that was voted on by teammates and the coaching staff and it was a very close vote. The votes decided to award the teams top goal scorer.


The captain of the 2010-11 Penguins:



Alexander Ovechkin

Starting the season with A's on their sweater will be:



Andrei Markov


AND




Ryan Getzlaf


The Pens will be shifting the "A" around throughout the season based on performance. If the team gets out of the gates fast you may see Markov and Getzlaf carry the honour all season long.

The Pens begin their season tonight in a Gretzky Conference tilt vs the always tough Ottawa Senators.

Doug I have a complaint into the league....We are going to have to open up "CPHL Spygate" because that picture was taken at a team only practice that was not open to the public. I am thinking you must have sent in a spy to our practice facility to get such a close up picture of Sid's reaction! No wonder you predicted you would beat us this season, you are documenting all our secret plays!

The knee injury comes after 3 championships. If AO wants to win me 3 titles he is allowed to have any injury he chooses!
