I voted this afternoon. The advanced poll that I went to wasn't busy at all, and this was at 5:30pm.
Just need a piece of ID and you are good to go.

The Do Not Call list does not apply to elections polling I believe.

Looks like the 3 way debate is on, but it's for 12 minutes on CBC Radio one (lame). According to Nenshi's twitter:

Looks like we're finally getting our 3-way debate. 12 minutes of it. CBC Radio One at 7:35 am. Me, @ barb_Higgins and @ ricmciver. #yycvote

If you don't mind me asking, which polling station was it? Is your address the one on your ID?
Just want to know because there were some problems today with the one at MRU telling people they were inelligible when they met all the requirements from the City of Calgary website.

It's a shame that it's only a 12 minute debate. (and from my understanding, it's not that the three agreed to this debate. It seems that this was scheduled sometime ago by the CBC)
I understand that both Barb and Ric have far more to lose with a debate and that a 3-way debate helps Nenshi more than the other two, but come on. Barb and Ric want to be in charge of our city. If they don't have the stamina to attend every single debate and to engage in a 3 way debate to help people understand why they are the best option for Calgarians, I don't understand how they're going to lead a 14 person council and be the face of our city.
If they're afraid of scrutiny now, wait till they have to embrace the wrath of tax payers for the next three years.

I went to St. Benedict Elementary School in the SW because I was driving by after work.
I just gave them my drivers licence and they took the address off of that, yes.
I don't know how you could be ineligable. Maybe if the address didn't match, but do they even look at the address? I thought all the ID was for was to verify your identity. I thought you could use a credit card as a form of ID.

I voted at City Hall today and, like worth, had no problems. No line-up; they just checked my driver's license, gave me my ballots, and I voted.

The rules according to the city website are:
1. You must be a Canadian citizen.
2. You must be a resident of Alberta for since April 18.
3. You must be living in Calgary on October 18.
You show ID to verify your identity and sign a declaration that you meet the requirements.
One girl I talked to got told she needed to have lived in Calgary for 10 months up to the election. Eventually the interpretation that got settled on was that students originally from other places in Alberta had to have intent to remain in Calgary after graduation to be considered "living in Calgary", which I still think is pure male bovine excrement.

I voted last week and it was quick and painless. I kind of prefer the advance and almost always go that route.

So my license doesn't show my correct address. Is it just a case of bringing a utility bill etc to the polling station?

According to this it doesn't even have to say you live in Calgary.

This question has probably been asked before me, so please ignore if it pisses you off.
But do you need to register to vote? Im 19 and this will be my first time voting.

Your first time, eh? Don't worry, it'll be slow and rewarding your first time. You'll wake up the next morning craving a cigarette and sporting a grin on your face.

This should answer both your question and Rathji's:
To vote, you just need to bring a piece of government issued ID--a driver's license is perfect, but there are a whole bunch of others that also work. You'll be asked to sign a statement swearing that you're a Canadian citizen, that you've lived in Alberta for at least 4 months (I think) and that you are a resident of the ward in which you're voting.
It's very quick and painless. Good luck!
