Browner hasn't looked good covering the slot receivers.

Burris may be the most hot and cold QB in CFL history

I don't understand why there is no safety helping him though. We all know Browner is getting beat way too many times and Calvillo will keep on looking at the receiver on Browner's side so you figured the safety will be there to help him. Calvillo is having a field day showing Browner's weaknesses.

Puzzling coaching decisions today. The punt ends up a single and ends up only netting 15 yards in field position. May as well go for it on 3 & 10 when you are down by over 3 TD's.

Nice of Huff to give his players the day off today. Hopefully they show up prepared to work on Sunday but I won't hold my breath.

Burris was awful.

I thought I was watching Duran Duant out there today, that's how bad he was.

It's actually hilarious how much heat Burris gets for a complete lack of TEAM effort.

Why is no one talking about an O-Line that literally allowed pressure on every single passing play in the 1st half (with no running lanes either)? And how nobody points out that the Stamps few good drives in the 3rd quarter coincided with the O-Line actually picking up their blocks (along with the Stamps going into max protect formations for some plays)?

Why is no one talking about receivers that got zero separation all day in spite of the fact that Montreal was consistently blitzing and leaving their DBs in man-to-man islands?

Why is no one talking about Reynolds running a brutal, lazy route on that screen pass that was intercepted for a TD? Or him running to the wrong side on play-action fakes at least 4-5 times?

Or the terrible coaching decisions like throwing from your 3 with 25 seconds left in the 1st half with a leaky O-Line that can't risk a holding penalty in the endzone (that'd be a safety)?

I really don't see how much in a guy who's never started a game is going to overcome all that (and I'm a big fan of Tate). No QB in the league would've succeeded the way we played as a team today.

I believed I mentioned this dumb plays after it happened. I totally agree this is not all Burris' fault and I am not blaming the guy for this lost. It is a total team effort or lack thereof. The OLine did not give Burris a lot of time to find his receiver. The receiver ran some bad routes but if you look at it, there are a few times that Burris was simply off overthrowing the ball and making some bad decisions. The coaching staff needs to be blamed as well. They totally abandoned the running game early in the game, calling a passing play before the end the half instead of running the ball and try to run the clock. Even if they gave up a safety on that play, they would have only given up 2 points instead of 7. Defensive Coordinator Chris Jones made some bad decisions as well and not making the adjustments. Calvillo took advantage of the man-to-man defense and they hardly made some blitzes and hardly pressure Calvillo.I did expect that Montreal will made some adjustments on both offense and defense and Calgary might lose the game. But I didn't think they will lose this game really bad.

Now they have to play Saskatchewan next and they will fight for first place. I still think they will win the next game especially if they make some adjustment from this game.

Frank made an appearance today but this game was lost in the trenches.

Offenses are starting to figure out Calgary's vaunted defense. All you have to do is get enough protection stop the pass rush and buy your QB some time to throw. The defensive backs are overrated and are getting beat a lot for long completions.

Two things need to happen in order to win next week. The o-line needs to give Burris some protection and establish the run a bit. Riders will be looking for blood. And secondly, Chris Jones better come up with some new wrinkles on D because a blitz in front of man coverage isn't working.

Burris made too many mistakes today, but the game was not all his fault.
No one really played a good game today, coaches included.

Yeah I'd agree with everything you said. The Stamps' O and D Lines were at their absolute worst today. The entire game can't be won on the line of scrimmage, but it can easily be lost.

Unless the D-Line can get consistent pressure (and they got none today even when they blitzed 5-6), there's almost no way for the DBs to look good especially against a guy like Calvillo.

No QB in the league would've been successful behind Calgary's O-Line today. Burris played like crap, but even if he was on there was really only a handful of chances to actually make plays and even if they were made it would've turned a blowout into a bad loss at best. When you're forcing your QB to make great plays just to pick up a 1st down and keep the ball moving you're in for trouble.

Burris was brutal, don't apologize for him by laying blame elsewhere. It wasn't HIS fault entirely... but Burris was pure garbage

When did I apologize for him?

All there was in this thread was people spewing Burris hatred and there was barely a mention of other major issues with the Stampeders today.

You're making excuses for him, many apologies on my part.

Saying the O-line was bad and the receivers/running backs were not running proper routes is not making excuses, imo. Its the truth.
