Since we will never actually be able to afford maxed out coaches, especially now, what if you had a 4 coach system going?
Every player has offense/defensive attributes to be effective - on the days you want to train your offensive skills (Pass/Offense/shooting), you use a coach set with high offensive Regen/high offensive skill set. Do that 3 or 4 days in the week.
Then swap to the defensive skill set coaches and train all your players in the def skills (Goal/tech/def/aggressive).
On the days you hold training camps, switch to the player training coaches then on the days you are going to recruit from your sports academy/education centre, switch to your youth ones.
Am I out to lunch here or is this a good idea?

Hmmm, never thought about that but it would be a good idea. Apparently coaches don't make a HUGE difference until you reach level 10 on training and regen anyways, but if you have your coaches set up for then, it probably would make a huge difference. I don't ever really tinker with my coaches, maybe I should a bit now that I'm building level 10 training, might be a good thought.
As for tactics that give you penalties, you will always get penalties if your tactic is one that doesn't match up well with the other team (say you had normal, they had breaking up of play). For ones that usually give you more penalties no matter what, I've only found that active forechecking does that, for the same reason that high aggressiveness = more penalties.

Well, at our level, I imagine we can probably get a couple of 45-50 in 1 attribute coaches for 10k each. So that would mean they are 45-50% effective, my current training rates are 25-27% per.
I'll buy them this week end I have some cash and let you know the results. See if I get any marked improvements.
I just kinda thought of the idea this weekend and figured it might make sense.

Ugh salaries are huge with staff, especially that high. But it may be worth it!
Looking to buy a ~100/50/50 goalie, but they're pricey too hehe

Ya a 100/50/50 goalie will go for multi-millions unless he's like 23 years old already or something. Staff are ridiculously overpriced, I pay twice as much for staff salaries as I do for player salaries.

Hmm, you seem to be right. The two I'm tracking, both 24 yrs old, are still going near 850k (first one at least)...I only have 1.1 mil so not sure if I can land either!
On another note, top team in IV.11 Montreal DesTROYers goes inactive! This will completely open up the playoffs and the chance to advance to div III next year. It looks like I'll be finishing 4th or 5th and be playing HC Wushu in the first round regardless of the next game. Smokies will finish 3rd and play the Faucons in the first round. And I also finally blew away a team, 12-0 final...hope the Flamez can role into the first round
Edit: Pinned my hopes on the wrong guy. First guy who was 120/60/50 went for 760k (which I could have bid on), next guy 120/60/60 went for over 1.5mil (which I couldn't). I let the first guy pass which I guess wasn't the right choice! Ah well, think I'll look more at a 90/45/45 type guy and hope I can get him for under 1 mil.

Should help for my playoff push...don't look now but Chalms and me have a decent shot and playing eachother in the finals

Post a pic up, what's his attributes? That's pretty good price for a 97 goalie! good work! I sold a 55 goalie for 180K a few months ago.

Here he is (don't show Chalms though in case we meet in the finals )
Not too bad, salary is like triple anyone else's but ah well. His energy is a little low too, but again I'm not too worried about that

Well, my best guy is 86/40/38 (as I obviously fubar'd with that 120/60/21 guy) - 16 years old and 5/6 - only thing that is slow is his tech, which gains 0.3-0.32 each day. His goaltending/passing all gain between .4-4.7 (level 6 training facility).
He'll do for next season, especially as it doesn't look like I'm winning this year. I'll make it out of the first round of playoffs, but I should lose in the semis, unless the opposing team tanks it.
The top 2 teams in my division are fairly unbeatable - I'm in 4th, so I'm playing one of them in the 2nd round.

Hey, don't think you have no chance. Last year the team I played in the second round had only lost one game all season and I managed to beat him in 3 games (I was the 7th seed). The round before that the team I played had only lost 3 games all year and I won that in three games as well. So there is definitely always a chance.
Your 86 goalie will be really good, 0.3 isn't too bad at level 6 facility. My starter right now (104/52/53) only trains at around 0.35 as well for me with tech, and he is going to get passed by my second string by next year, which will then quickly get passed by my third string (his pass/tech qualities are 99/99!)

Just a word of advice hades... I was able to pick some 15 yr old, CL 6 guys with above average stats (210-240 overall, 60-70% quality) off the market for 10k this sunday - sunday seems to be a great day to buy IMHO. At least one would be your first line RW!

And damnit for playing my backup thinking I would get an easy win. Instead, getting cocky bites me in the ass with a 3-2 OTL in the 2nd last league game.

Flamez finish the season with a strong 5-0 win over the 8th place Castors. Newly signed goalie Jan Farkas with the an 19 save shutout, while the powerplay went 3 for 3 in the first period. With the win, the Flamez secure home ice advantage for the first round, finishing in 4th place with 83 points. They will place HC Wushu in the first round, who finished just one point behind.
Season series was tied 1-1, with HC winning when the Flamez were just days old by a 2-1 score, and the Flamez winning the second game 3-0. OTS favours the Flamez 22 to 18 (not including Flamez new goaltender, so more likely 23-18).
On paper the Flamez should win, but in the playoffs there are no garuntees!

Ended up in 14th
Worst season yet for me but I knew it would be a tough one moving up from div III.2, need to win the first round of placement games to avoid having to play a relegation playoff with whoever comes 2nd in League III playoffs.
Play Xterminator in the first round of placements, season series was 1-1, with me winning the second game 3-2. Our OTS is the same, and my goalie is better than his. He has also played almost totally on normal so I will have more energy as well. Hope to win in three games.
After that, if I win I'll send my players to training camp. Would have usually done my first camp earlier in the season but I needed my best players in the stretch drive to avoid relegation unfortunately.

Home ice advantage is huge in the playoffs, you will win unless he lucks out with picking tactics. Go Flamez!

Well im limping into the playoffs with losing the last 2 league games. I fell to 5th from 3rd but I got lucky i my opponent for the first round. I drew the Glass Tigers the 4th place team, a team I have beaten is our 2 meetings in the regular season. I am hoping that trend continues when it matters.
On the bright side Frddy Goettling was selected to play RD for the Season Long all star team.
Good Luck to eveyone.

I'm going to crush my first round opponent - but in the 2nd round against ROLEX... they crushed me in the regular season, so we'll see what happens.
I might not mind staying in League IV, as I know I'll dominate + make oodles of cash.

I think your attendance and sponsorship money is higher in higher leagues. However you won't get as many season end bonuses. I ended up having two players with season bonuses, made me an extra 300k or so.
I'm hoping all us CPers get to at least the second round!

Won my first playoff game 5-1. I was the #4 seed, he was the #5 seed.
Our teams are fairly similar, with mine coming out slighting ahead, but the poor guy has no sense of tactics. He always plays on offense.
