Default Castlevania Lords of Shadow

I've always wanted to play God of War Dante's Inferno Castlevania in 3D!

I loved me some Castlevania, but this looks like such a rip off.. maybe the story will be good.

There will always be classic 2D Castlevania on Gameboy/DS/3DS at least. You can only do so much in 3D, basically this game rips off every convention in the genre. It's Prince of Dante's Devilish Uncharted Inferno of the Gods of the Assassin's War of Creeds who may Cry.

Game looks extremely gorgeous though, much better than most of the above games. I just hope the music is classic Castlevania (catchy themes and gothic neo-classical melodies) and not this generic crap in the trailer.

Gamespot has given it a 7.5/10. There are a few other reviews. A 8/10 and a few 9/10's so far.

I can't read the Gamespot review from work but the previews I did read sounded promising. Did the G-Spot review complain that it was too much like God of War or something (which isn't a bad thing)?

I think it's a bad thing. If I wanted to play God of War...well, I would go to GoW3. I play Castlevania because in terms of action games the last few years have had plenty of great action platformers in the series. This doesn't look like the Castlevania I love.

Hell, they even put some nice boob shots in there to match up with God of War.

I don't know, there's room for other games in the genre. I mean there isn't just one FPS to play, there's tons of different ones, different settings, different trappings, but they're all just "pick gun, aim, shoot" clones.

But bring SOMETHING new, from the videos it looks too similar. Still even if it's a blatant ripoff and it's a GOOD ripoff, I'd still play it because GoW is so good.

I agree that there's room for more games in the genre so to speak, but I don't think Castlevania is a series that really NEEDS to be in the same sentence as God of War or Uncharted or whatever.

Just played the demo on the PS3. It's a pretty short demo. The graphics look pretty sweet. The fixed camera can get annoying at times and the combat felt pretty tight but hard to judge cause of the short demo. Definitely feels God of War like but not a bad thing IMO. I'll definitely get this game sometime when I get a chance. It looks worth buying and from the reviews has some pretty good length to it too. Between this and Enslaved which also comes out this week and is a similar kind of game based on the demo from these two games I'd have to pick Castlevania.

I played the demo for both the PS3 and the 360 and for those that have both I'd go with the 360.

As for the game, I think it's pretty fun. It does have that God of War feel to it but I enjoy those games so this is great for me. The reviews say it's about 20 hours to complete and the story is pretty decent.

I think if you buy the game from Best Buy ($59.99) you get a Castlevania: Symphony of Night code to download the XBox Live Arcade game for free.
